The purpose of the exhaust isn't more go. It's to make me feeeeel like I'm driving a V8. It's that sound.....

Nice. That doesn't show up on mobile, at least not for me.

Tunes cost way too much for the gains on these trucks. I have a unichip and the canned tunes are hardly noticeable, maybe even just placebo.

All that aside, OP should browse around and see what he likes, then start mods.

I just picked up a 2000 Limited 4x4 Access Cab. What are the timing belt and lower ball joint mods you're mentioning? Could you tell me a bit more about those?

the “mod” is being used a little tongue in cheek. It’s maintenance items for potentially catastrophic failure items. Change timing belt and water pump every 90k miles or 7-9 years. Lower ball joints should be inspected and replaced if unknown or suspect.

I’d spend my money on maintenance before I try to do any mods. Timing belt, water pump, lower ball joints, brakes, shocks, inner and outer tie rods, maybe steering rack bushings or steering rack, fluids. A good running solid truck before anything else

First order of business would be to make sure it's in top mechanical shape, go thru everything, brakes suspension etc, also do the maintenance like timing belt etc.

Dirt Deeds injectors, Addco rear sway, AEM dry flow air filter, last ever set of Stan's Try-Y headers, Borla full custom exhaust, front level, wheel spacers, and lots of electronics.
Timing belt, water pump, thermostat, LBJ's, brakes, spark plugs, and o2 sensors.

After maintenance items: Addco rear sway bar. Greatly improves the over-all handling and on-road character of the truck.
