What price were you paying prior to covid for new or almost new truck?

As the title says I am curious what these tundras were selling for new prior to covid in around late 2019 and early 2020. Were they close to msrp , 1000 below, 2000, etc. I want to know respective to msrp since every truck is a little different trim and package wise. Also I am curious what 10k or less miles used to be discounted before covid.

To answer your question directly it will depend on timing. I was looking at a CPOed 2018 with ~5K on the odo their asking was $45K. MSRP for a 2020 was $54K. Most of the 2018s I looked at were about 38K to 42K from what I remember.

i am looking at some 2020s and 2021 with about 10k miles on it and they want 1000 off msrp. So a 2020 sr5 with trd or package, with conveinance and sr5 upgrade package for 48k +tt with 11k miles, a limited 2021 off road package with 11k miles for 52k + tt, then a 2021 sr5 with everything noted about with 3k miles for 51k + tt. Seems their all around their msrp price with the exception of the 3k mile sr5 with 3k miles.

August 2019, purchased new 2019 4.6L Tundra 4x4 DC SR, $3,000 off msrp and 2.9% financing for 72 months. Msrp was $36,000. I got a great deal on the truck and my trade in price, I feel like I stole the truck especially now at these ridiculous prices.

I know it wasn't directed at me.

In the DC area MSRP for 1794 was $54K right before the price collapse at this time. One of the dealers I worked with offered a little over 47K for the 1794 and no trade in. It was a no brainer for me after I looked at the 2018 going for 45K; I think I offered them 38K for the 2018 but they would have probably parted with somewhere between 40K to 43K.

That was right when the lock-downs really started impacting business 6/2020. I pinged every dealership within 100 miles with my specs and had them outbid each other. The dealership in Silver spring low-balled everyone but the finance guy tried to make their money back playing games.

$49,104 for a brand new 2021 nightshade limited in April 2021. MSRP was like $58 I think?

Pretty sure I hit the truck buying market at the perfect time to get the exact truck I wanted, all things considered. Found a 19 Sport SR5 D/C at the end of August 2019, right before the 20's were coming out, and a few Months before Covid hit. MSRP was $45,053.00, I told the salesman I would cut him a check for $39,500 on the spot, which he quickly rejected, and the wife and I walked. Two days later I got a call from the sales manager saying that they accepted the offer after all. So, I ended up at a little less than $5,500 below MSRP which in todays market is unheard of.

I was looking hard for a truck in early 2020, looking for a used truck with under 40k. I was striking out. Called a local Toyota dealer about a post for a used truck. It sold quick like all the others. They offered a 2020 SR5 4x4 for 41k [same price as the used truck]. Probably helped it was the very beginning of Covid.

Got my trail for 3k off in Feb of 2021, was 47k paid 43k. My truck and the other 2 Tundras on the lot were the last to get any discounts from my favorite dealer. Any stock they got after that was MSRP.

By comparison, I had been browsing these forums in mid 2019 and it looked like 10-15% off was the norm. At this same time I purchased a new Silverado for 14k off which was also the norm.

Don't beat yourself up if you have to pay close to MSRP on a used low mileage 2.5 gen right now. The prices aren't going down anytime soon but young 2.5s are a dying breed.

Bought my 2019 limited crew max in late October 2019. It was a Toyota executive truck with 6200 miles on it for 42k. In comparison my son just bought a 2020 sr5 crew max from a local dealer with 9200 miles for 46k. By far the best deal he could find locally.

Area mattered a lot, but most were selling a bit below MSRP. I bought a brand new 2019, Crewmax, SR5 with plenty of options in mid 2019 and sticker on my truck was $47,XXX. Before any dickering they had it marked down to $41,XXX. A used one with less than 15K miles was only in the neighborhood of a thousand dollars cheaper. They hold/held value extremely well.

For the info to be of any value you need to exclude tax title and such. That might be a smokin' deal in Cali with crazy high taxes, but that price would mean you got screwed in Utah with lower taxes. You have to leave the state specific stuff out of the price in order for it to be of any help to anyone who isn't in your area.
