When you subtract the bigger rebate, $2k on mine, and then add in the extras the TSS comes out about the same as TRD OR. I priced both and actual got better deal on TSS because of 0% interest. I did not want the 20" wheels but needed the BFG ATs. MSRP on TSS was $2000 more but rebate knocked it down to break even.

Easily doable on a 2wd. Just minimize port and dealer addons. The one I look for is Vehicle Protection, a.k.a $500 bottle of wax. Unnecessary add ons can add $1k in a hurry.

I see you're in San Antonio, but if you don't mind driving a bit I have seen several '18s with the specs you're looking for under $40K in the St. Louis regional area. I just traded for an '18 earlier this month and love it. Good luck with the search!

I got it because Toyota offered the 0% interest only on the TSS package, the other models didn't and it had things that I would have added anyway. It was as close to a SR5 without too many add on's just enough IMO. I could have done with out the lustrizing protection. Heck if you think about it the Platinum is SR5 too with allot more add ons, they jack the price way up on that one.

The Vehicle Protection is just $4-$500 in someone's pocket and out of yours. I will not buy a vehicle that has it. That and ball mount are 2 worthless port options

TRD rear sway bar, console organizer, stubby antenna, LEDs for cabin, cargo, license plate, and reverse lights, power-fold mirrors, Westin nerf bars, full stereo upgrade. Future - color-match grill surround/bulge, mirror caps, handles, plasti-dip badges.
I just signed on a 2018 limited crewmax 4x4 with moonroof and limited premium package. MSRP was 49,514. I had to fight with them to drop it to $44,187 and give me $21k for my trade. Trade was a 2014 Tacoma 4x4 double can long bed TRD sport with 67k miles. Pretty clean, only a few scratches, no dents. It had an access Lorado tonneau cover, remote starter, and heated mirrors. I'm pretty happy with the outcome, but it's crazy how hard you need to fight for a fair deal. Salesman tried to tell me that you either get $ of the sticker or a decent offer for the trade, can't get both. I called him right out on that and told him however he wants to look at it, I'll only buy if I like the price of the Tundra and the offer of the trade together. Can't wait to take delivery.

There was quite a bit more wiggle room there and they stole your tacoma. I just private party sold my 2011 tacoma trd sport double cab short bed with 77k miles for $23.5k. You could have easily gotten 25k for yours. Did you bother to get multiple quotes from a few dealerships?

As long as you're happy, that's all you can ask for. Congrats!

You think there was more room? I did better than the true car average for my area on the tundra, and KBB had my Tacoma at $20-22k for trade. I told them I wanted $25k for the trade in hopes of getting 22 or 23, but the bastard comes up with only 14 at the start of the negotiations. I told him it was a joke. He came back with 18 and I told him he was moving in the right direction. This dealership had the best price on the tundra, didn't bother getting trade-in quotes anywhere else.

Yeah, you should always check websites like edmunds.com to find the invoice price of your tundra configuration and start from there. Also, you should never mention that you would consider trading a vehicle while negotiating. Otherwise, you'll end up with the same situation that you experienced when they stated that you can't a fair price on the sticker and trade.

Whelp, another learning experience I guess. I wasn't looking for the deal of the century and I wanted a specific configuration, which wasn't even on their lot. The have to transfer it from another dealer. I figured that would stifle my bargaining power a bit. I don't think I got hosed at least. Not seeing tacomas going for much more than $25k.

Not much point in making your comment since he already ordered the truck. Sometimes it’s just a lot easier to trade versus selling private. Give the guy a break.

Did you get 0%? I had similar trade experience on my Tacoma except first dealer offered $21k and would not budge. I told him $22k and deal. Said no. I said fine I will sell myself. He said good luck with that. I said I will have no problem selling. I had them below invoice on a TRD OR CM and they were whining. They had to get it from another dealer which should not impact the price. A sale is a sale. If you want a truck that is just not selling and has sat on there lot for a while then you might knock off another $1k. At least that is discount the dealer I ended up buying from offered on a MGM they had for a while. Sales tax break is only thing that made it worth trading mine. 2nd dealer started lower but ended up higher. I did a lot of research and checked what similar Tacomas were listed for. Also what competition was at time. In hindsight I should have listed Tacoma and lined up sale before buying Tundra. I did not do this because Tundra I thought I wanted was in short supply with options I wanted and port add ons I did not.

Thanks for the support Tony v, but no harm done. My wife was at home with my 3-week-old son while my mother was watching my 2-year-old daughter. I definitely didn't have the time to push any harder or try to sell the Tacoma myself. I still stand by that I got a fair deal. Over $5k off MSRP (which appears to be below invoice) on the Tundra and right smack in the middle of what KBB said my Tacoma was worth for trade.

I haven't done the financing yet, so I'm not sure what I'm going to get. Toyota is offering 0.9% for 60 months and 1.9% for 72 months, but the site says you can't combine that with the $1250 cash-back, which I got. My credit is really good, so I'm going to push for under 3%. I'd be happy with 2.5%

I wanted red, blue, or silver with the moonroof and limited premium package, no TRD OR package. I also wanted the beige interior for red/blue and graphite for silver. There were only 2 trucks out of 24 in the area that had a moonroof, and only one with the beige interior. I don't know how many people are looking for Tacomas with the long bed. It seems most Tacoma owners want the short bed.

I had 1.79% lined up through a CU in Texas. I had a problem with the online app and it transmitted twice. I then had to wait 48 hours to reapply. I really should have since I always pay off early. In my case $1500 rebate w/1.79% or no rebate and 0% was a wash if I did not pay off early. With 0% I will probably make 60 monthly payments. If I get the 4 trade itch then I will lose a little by giving up the rebate. On a 5 year note for $40k @ 2.5% the interest will cost you $2,600. If you put the same down and gave up the rebate with the .9% the interest would be $950. If you did not pay off early taking the .9% is a better deal. Try one of the federal credit union like PenFed and you might beat 2.5% with a good rating.

I just picked my Limited up last night. Ended up losing the $1250 rebate in exchange for the 1.9% financing. Dealer was trying to push 5.99% on me. Insanity.

I thought about that, but I would need 3% or lower in order for the $1250 to be beneficial. I'm seeing 72-month rates over 3.5 at most credit unions, and banks are in the 4s, so I decided not to bother.

I took the 1000 rebate and got 72 @ 4.6. going to refinance lower rate and on top of that pay extra each month to negate the interest rate.

either you can get a lower interest rate and make your default payment or have a higher rate and pay extra to make your effective interest rate lower. It just depends on how your manipulate the numbers. each person does it differently. so pick the best situation that works for you. we are just throwing out different options for you to choose.

Did toyota stop offering the 0.9%? When I got mine in Jan., the finance lady showed me the percentage breakdown based on credit. Credit score of 720+ was eligible for the 0.9%. Was not an issue for me because mine is 845. Some people were offered 0% on the sport model according to some of the posts I’ve read.

I finally used Costco car program again. $780 under invoice. This varies by dealer as one dealer in program wanted $500 over invoice. About $3500 off msrp and got the $1000 rebate.

    2018 Tundra Crewmax 4x4 SR5, white, SR5 upgrade package
Port options: cargo bed lighting, power tailgate lock

This was a very basic truck, exactly what I like, as I've never been a fan of factory Nav or sunroofs, and I wasn't impressed with entune/JBL, also didn't want the bedliner as I'd planned to install Line-x. I'm planning on adding black badges and the TSS running boards, dealership here sells the takeoffs for 300, just waiting for some black ones.

Sticker was 42,633 before dealer addons.
Tint and other install for profit crap added 1097, which I wasn't about to pay for.

    Total sticker was 43,730
    Sale price was 36,459.71

    No college/military discount

    After tax/doc/lic/title/state insp;
Price was a nice round 38k, which was what I told them I'd pay for the truck,
15k down and financed 23k with my credit union for 1.9% interest.

The finance office dude seemed really really butt hurt about me not buying the extended warranty.

Finance dudes make money off any extras they can sell you. When I bought my 2013 Tacoma I told him up front not to even try. I said if you do I am going to just turn my back to you. He tried any way. Then he pulled a rabbit out of his hat and offered a .4% lower rate. I said I will take the rate and no warranty. He was stuck at that point. If you are paying truck off early then it cam be better to take higher rate and rebate. I normally do but on the Tundra I plan to keep it 5 years do I took 0% and gave up rebate. Was a breakeven compared with Lowes rate I could get.

I took the rebate and got financing through local credit union 2.04 for 72.. plan on paying off early but took the 72 for lower payments when I don't have surplus money to throw at it.
