Anybody use 85 exclusively? I've heard bad things about filters with using it. It is an option on my truck the flex fuel. Still just using 87 currently.

85 octane gas isn't available in this part of the country, I'd never heard of it prior to joining this forum.

85 is just as clean as 87, 89, 91, 93 etc. Don't let anyone tell you different. The Octane has nothing to do with Quality, it is simply the ratio of different types of hydrocarbons in the fuel.

So why does the higher octane exist? it is used when the engine has a tendency to detonate, this tendency increases with compression ratio or forced induction. If you car doesn't detonate at 87 or 85, then you are wasting money on anything more.
