I wouldn't sweat about temps of 235f. Us owners of 2019-20 trucks would see 250f plus climbing hills. 235f for short durations would be fine.

ok. We took the camper for it’s first overnighter at a state park 90 minutes away with a 2k elevation gain.
I have to say the truck performed well. Kept it in T/H and S4/S5 the bulk of the trips and downshifted as needed. Looking forward to a longer run next time.

I put it in S after getting up to cruising speed. Using a scan gauge I watch trans temps, if they go over 200 I’ll drop it to S4. Typically in S4 or S5 while towing on the hiway. Similar size and weight trailer. Also, you shouldn’t need 80psi in the tires, with a WD hitch you won’t have enough load on them to need it that high.

Wish I’d taken some pictures of my tow this weekend. We left Wednesday AM, Took a 20’ flat bed trailer up to NW Arkansas from Buffalo Tx to pick up a bunch of stuff from my moms place. Trailer empty weights about 2350lbs. Going up I ran it in T/H S5-S4 most of the way over the “mountains” in SE OK, we ran an average of 68mph with 11.5mpg. Loaded up we were around 6700lbs ran in T/H S4 average 58mph, with 9.1mpg. With that weight it really made the Tundra work but the most elevation we saw was 2100’. Climbing up to the Three Sticks Monument I had it down in S2 and still had power. So I can definitely see how being at 4000’ and towing over 10000 will definitely work the tundra more. Also have you added a CAI yet? I think it helps Just a little but dose help with Towing.

Cold Air Intake. I’m using a TRD intake and feel it helps with towing.

Ok... Haven't added that. Does yours use the TRD hood bulge/scoop for that?

The hood scoops are purely cosmetic, unfortunately.

Ok... I have seen a "light bar" that fits in the scoop and replaces the filler. It has a "Knight Rider / Kit:" feature that scrolls the light back and forth just to be cool too.

Can someone explain to me how downshifting would lower a tranny temp? Wouldn't downshifting raise rpm's thus raising the temp?

An increase in the rpms increases the transmission pump speed and allows the fluid to flow quicker and exchange more heat through the cooler.
