I thought the engineering firm my last company worked with was one of the worst in the industry but the two my new company works with don't seem any better. In addition to not having any consideration for people's time when booking meetings for low priority projects, they're also really good at giving 500 word answers to yes/no questions.

 

Sounds like a stereotypical engineer to me. Or someone who WANTS people to miss the meeting!

Little unruly kids screaming, crying and running around in hotel hallways, public areas and in rooms. It's the parents that are to blame for their fucking little animals.

 

I fucking hate windows 10, never had any issues with windows 7. Had so many issues with windows 10 doing their bullshit updates only to find out my nas drives were not being recognized. I finally went back to IOS $2600 later, but knowing I never have to deal with windows 10m bullshit ever again....priceless!!!

 

All the more reason to shop at target,The woman are a step up as well.

 

I only upgraded to 10 because Deep Rock Galactic wouldn't run on 7 for some reason. So far the only thing I hate about 10 is the auto update.

 

More manageable list is what doesn't piss me off.

Being on call in July when it's 95 and the humidity is so thick it's hard to breathe. During the week 49 year old over weight lead tech can stick to his specialty of cooking equipment and the young bucks get the roof top HVAC and refer calls. Yesterday (Saturday) I went 14 hours and was wondering if my savings accounts was good enough to just quit.

Had a meeting at one of our corp hq up in MN a while back. Asked folks where I should book at. They told me some hotel that (unbeknownst to me till I got there) had a water park.
WTF can I, nearly 270 lbs walk down a hall and no one hear me yet a 60lb kid can wake me out of a dead sleep at 5 am running down the hall to hit the slip and slide!

 

Anger isn't the correct word but I find it annoying when sellers post items on marketplaces (CL, etc.) then don't answer inquiries or sell the item(s) and then don't take the ad down.

 

I don't know what work you do, but I can show up M-F for 8 hours a day and won't ghost you. I figure that is worth $150,000 a year. We can start salary negotiations there. If you want me to do more than show up, price goes to at least $250,000 - more if it's something that makes actually me think or requires physical effort (not sitting at desk). Let me know if you're interested. lol

 

You're not obligated to show a receipt for your property. They're just banking on you complying. Stop complying. Problem solved.

 

The door twits stand between you and the door at some stores. It's either comply or assault them on the way out.

 

If they stand between me and the door preventing me from leaving with my justly aquired property that's an act of aggression. There is no legal basis for any merchant to detain an individual from exiting for not complying with receipt showing and that merchant would quickly find out once I contacted LE, if that was even necessary.

If it's really an issue for you and you're unable to quickly reason your way out of it or avoid it altogether then make a quick phone call to your local prosecutor and explain that you know the practice is illegal and you're being violated. Better still, encourage some friends with the same issue to do the same and watch how quickly the policy changes once the people at the door are made aware that they are personally liable. Those folks are just blindly listening to their boss. You have to assert yourself or there's no incentive for the merchant to change. Knowing that the law is on your side is a great incentive for them. The big merchants know the practice is illegal but apparently no one has called them out on it, so they continue.

 

When people argue and want things done their way when they've NEVER done the task before. Then, when called on it and told they can do it themselves instead of letting me just do it; I'm the bad guy.

Then basic, simple, and easily doable requests are dissected, questioned, or just ignored for no other reason than a control freak to feel like they're in control. I am getting in the habit of stifling myself and shutting down to avoid the bullshit, and it makes me angry because it's not healthy.

I've had the same thing. Had one anal engineer who was questioning everything we did because he had some cisco whitepaper. I finally told him we do this shit every day, get out of the way and let us do our job.

 

This wasn't work, sadly. This was family.

 

I used to work with a guy that could fart around with a 5 minute job and make it last 5 hours. And I've worked with others just about as bad. I never understood how anyone could stand doing that - I'm not the most motivated guy in the world, but dammit, I'm also not the most patient. If I'm gonna do something I do it, if not I don't. Would drive me insane to fart around with something like that.

The irony is, these guys typically worked twice as hard scheming and trying to figure out how to get out of work than what it would have taken them to just do the job.

 

I can see both sides here. I generally am in your camp, BUT when the boss or the company gets unreasonable or shitty... I totally understand a job getting milked.

 

Again bad dog owners. I have 4. None bark at night. Or during the day really. I have the clean my house every other day. Pick up shit daily. Sounds like you're just in a bad neighborhood. Every house on my street has dogs and I don't have any issues like you're stating.

 

Yeah, I was thinking my suburb is nothing like that.

 

Gives us good dog owners a bad rap. But I don't blame you for being upset. Just be upset with the owner and not the dog.

 

Too funny, local HR gal tried to throw me under the bus yesterday (long and complicated story). The bus backed over her and now she had to send out an email explaining the proper way to work with our helpdesk that doesn't include me, which I have been telling them for years.
