after 30 days full price, "Yes Sir, it seems that NOW you got a slow leak in the evap coil, I'm not suppose too but I'm really doing you a favor by adding refrigerant in a system with a known leak, we could get in real trouble with the EPA if we can't track all our freon use"
PS- I have been in the business since BEFORE the EPA rules. I took the first ever EPA approved test in '94 or '95 and NEVER not once has any company I worked for or any of the other local companies around (we all talk at the supply house) ever seen anybody from the EPA. Haven't bothered with a freon log since '97ish.

Edit- misread the quoted post but still gets the point across, thought you were asking how much it will cost when it leaks again because no one bothered finding the real leak.

Who wants to change a stupid TXV anyway. only thing worse is the reversing valve. Probably wanted to have the salesman stop to see if he could help.

Last I heard the magic cooling juice was getting expensive as hell. To the point where the cost to fix/replace a leak could be quickly recovered in recharge cost savings (depending how fast it was leaking).

Yeah, 22 getting phased out just like 12 and 502 in the 90's, but r410 has been the norm for coming on 10 years so costs are still about the same on most units. Also, from what I have seen with R22 commercial units the R22 drop in replacements work fine so dont let a tech/salesman sell you a $7000 new unit just because you need R22.

My neighbor passed almost 3 years ago, so my info is admittedly a little outdated. But between product changes and COVID, etc... I figured prices were still high.

    Oddly specific number there....
In my defense, it was my call to replace it really. It was a 18 year old unit and I was looking at a $1500 repair and who knows what the next thing that was going to go out on it. I know a new unit will draw less power. Got a 12 year warrantee with local guys (Mennonites so you gotta trust them) and I've been very happy with it as the power bill has gone down. They have been out 3 times since fixing busted duct work and changing the filter box without charging us.

When a weekly meeting scheduled for 1500hrs and has been run for 4 months gets only 20% of the required participants showing up. I waited until 1510hrs then called it off. Strongly worded emails will be sent.

What kind of psycho schedules a meeting at 15:00 on a Friday in the summer? :boink:

The psycho who works on a site that runs 24/7, 365 days a year. For the record, I didn't schedule this meeting and was firmly against because even with everyone attending, it's a waste of time.

I've always worked on sites like that. I still don't subject people to meetings on Friday afternoons.

I prefer not to subject people to meetings at all. To date, I have never actually set up a meeting myself because meetings are stupid.

Exactly. Just having a quick field level chat, making a phone call or swinging over to somebody's desk is always more effective than trying to gather a bunch of people in one place and time. Especially when 3/4 of said people don't really need to be there or have authority to make changes.

:annoyed: I used to get those when the moderator was too busy to open the conference call. My time to retirement was proportional to my wait time before I hung up and locked the office door. And the repetitive music while waiting on hold :censored:

Those are the worst. Microsoft Teams and conference calling are the worst thing to ever happen to jobsite productivity. The meeting I was told to run is in person on the jobsite. Everyone is on site, they just didn't want to show up.

I don't like people coming over to my desk to chat. Unless it's one of the few hot chicks that work in the office. Then I invite them to come stand behind me and lean over my chair cause it's much easier to just show them on my screens than try to explain whatever the hell it is that they came over to chat about.

My company fired a great assistant shop manager that had been with the company 10+ years, and replaced him with a cute but clueless chicka that has been with the company less than 6 months. She knows absolutely nothing about our products, and asks the dumbest questions via email on a daily basis.
I understand that if you're new you don't know anything and that you need to ask for help,
BUT DAMMIT HOW IN THE HELL DID YOU GET INTO THE POSITION YOU'RE IN???? YOU'RE SUPOSSED TO BE THE GO-TO......

When work invites you to a veteran foundation golf tournament, because you’re the one only that’s a vet at the company, but requires you to bust your ass and get all your work done prior because they can’t pay me to be at the golf tournament but the rest of the company peeps are getting paid a full days pay to be there but ARENT vets….. kinda ass backwards
