We've got a Coleman pop-up that we tow with our '09 Highlander.

Annual trip (except last year due to Covid) to Assateague Island area for more than a decade now.

Being retired, we'll be going for the two weeks after Labor Day this summer to avoid the crowds and keep the price down.

Camper and vehicle originally belonged to my parents, now in their 80's, when they decided it was too much for them.

Doubtful we'll start using Tundra for the trip, since two dogs will take up the backseat and need to keep the stuff we bring out of the elements for the drive down and back.

@AK-in-MI Great looking setup! Could you tell me how you set your bike rack up? On the drivers side looks like a 1UP rack tray which is what I use for my bikes. Is it a tonneau cover with the t-bar/rack integrated like a retrax pro or ?

    I cobbled it together.

I mounted some old bed rails systems in the bed So I could use the t-slot nuts for easy adjustment of the cross bars.

Last week I found a killer deal. I got a 2 month old retrax xr with track system, rhino rack/towers and a bed extender for $500. Couldn't pass up the deal so I swapped out the old with this new onw. 20210314_174602.jpg

Finally had weather warm enough to hook up our Tundra for the first time to our trailer. First time seeing how the Tundra compares to the Highlander. The integrated brake controller worked great and the mirrors are better than our Highlander. We couldn’t even tell the 3300 lb trailer was there. It should be a great season of camping! This was the first real tow with the tundra. I replaced some tanks and put it back to factory. I gained about 6 inches of ground clearance.

the 2509S is a beautiful travel trailer , I don't think you need to worry , just watch your tongue weight for payload reasons and use a good weight distribution hitch with anti-sway that's setup correctly , I wouldn't however go any bigger of a trailer for the tundra imo.

I tow a 2017 Jayco Jayflight 242bhsw , 5400 lbs dry. tundra does well towing it compared to other trucks I have used in the past . I'm tempted to upgrade to a 3/4 ton for payload capacity but there is no 3/4 on the market that I am comfortable with for mechanical reliability reasons .

I think you will be alright. You need WDH with sway control. You need a brake controller. You need to go to a cat scale. You can get to much cargo easy.

I am not familiar with that one but it looks like it will do the job. Make sure you read through the installation procedure. You will most likely need to adjust it once you get your ready to camp setup dialed in.

Thanks. It took me about 80 hours last fall. I hope I can keep it looking good with about 1 day of work a year. We will see. It is a little weird going down the road. Everything kind of bends away behind me. It took a few miles to get used to it. We have people beeping and waving on almost every trip. It makes camping a little more fun than with our old forest river setup.

My grandfather used one for years with a 34ft. I hope to add a second, larger trailer one day and I will look into one when the time comes. I would like to pick up an old used one and refurb it. Do you know if there are any differences with the current hitch and the older ones? Is there anything you dislike about it?

Last sept 2020. Ours is still in storage until April 1. 21’ summer land by keystone. Just had our 2nd boy in March so this one is going to be too small looking to upgrade this year or next.

We camped in our new (to us) Roo 23SS on the Eastern Shore of VA. It was the first time pulling it a significant distance. The Tundra handled the load but a high headwind kept me in S4 on the southern route.

Currently have a Grey Wolf 23MK we had our previous Wolf Pup 18TO for about 4 weeks before significantly upgrading. GVWR is about 7800 but we never approach that amount. The Tundra tows it with no problems so far.
