When I'm letting the cruise control hold the speed and when we come to a downhill section and the damn thing hits the BRAKES. If I WANTED the truck to slow down while coasting downhill, I'd've hit the brakes myself, thank you.

Interesting. I understand the motor/transmission would have a "braking" affect downhill, but I never heard the brakes would actually be applied...at least not until now. Are you sure?

It's cruise control. Designed to keep the truck at a constant speed. Just like when the adaptive cruise control will adjust your speed if a vehicle in front of you is moving at a slower rate.

ENTUNE mystery solved. So Entune has been deprecated into the Toyota app. The little yellow GPS app is also NOT compatible with my year of truck...

So now, other than the damned phone calls not piping through the radio, (it did not on an incoming but did on an outgoing) one more mystery to solve is why the PCS won't work even after I turn it on in the little screen behind the steering wheel. It says in the manual to check for camera obstruction. I drove from Boston to NH in a monsoon today, wondering if that has anything to do with it...

I am now thinking that since the truck was on the lot for 3 weeks, I'll bet someone absconded with it.

I turn it off on the back roads but the highway is good because where there is construction and rain, I sometimes can't SEE the lines. (Sucks getting old)

Same here! I have a 2019 with the exact same issue that started in December 2020. Reported it to my dealership and they were not interested in helping me. Even rode with the tech advisor and manager, then sent them a detailed log of when it does it but to them it's not a problem. Good thing there's a warranty IF this gets worse. I was surprised and disappointed when this problem started on the most reliable truck out there. Oh well.

Attached his directions, easy peasey. @Roman will give you all the part numbers to order the right things. Hopefully their store gets back up and running soon; I ended up getting mine on megazip after not hearing back; $165 to my door if I remember correctly. All credit goes to @Roman - you’ll see he’s legendary on here if you haven’t run into him yet.

Water or anything on the windshield in front of the camera can cause the PCS to not work. I’ve had that happen several times.

Didn't have time to read all 14 pages but wondered if anyone mentioned, and had a solution for the downgrade to a single driver's visor (my '03 has two but the new truck only has one). Reaallly need a second visor, I go blind/get baked by side or front sun where I drive apparently...lots of turns S then SW in the summer I guess.
Need a way to add a second visor (that doesn't look cheaply done).

Really curious about the problem You and TundraTRD11 seem to be having regarding the erratic shifting and trans slippage, can you elaborate more on this problem, and what the dealer told you?

ABS check thunk, squeaky brakes when reversing, engine whistle when accelerating, creaking front end when turning the steering wheel. All with less than 3k miles on it. So frustrated.

Obviously you bought the wrong truck. Trade it for something else. Life’s too short to drive a vehicle that frustrates you.

Yes. I know the difference between engine braking and actual brakes; I live 6 miles from a mountain pass and refuse to smoke my brakes by riding them, so I downshift whenever I'm going over the Appalachian Gap.

No worries. It's tough to read if someone is annoyed or not in text. But I've had to learn about engine braking since moving to the mountains nearly 8 years ago, and this really isn't it. I wish I could change the cruise control's programming on that, though. Annoying.

Yes, I’ll try to add some notes. It all started with some very severe downshifts where it would jerk the whole truck and everyone felt it. Usually happened downshifting 3-2 and 2-1. This would happen cold or warm. I took it in the first time and the first tech said he definitely felt it and decided to keep it for a few days to test it.
The master tech test drove it for forty minutes the next day and said it was fine. I arrived that afternoon, took it for a test drive with the master tech and the hard downshift happened twice on our drive.
I left it again and they decided to reset the adaptive shift points.
I picked it up and the issue is still there and I emailed my logs to the master tech/manager with no help from them except them saying that it’s normal and that Tundra transmissions don’t usually fail (which I believe, but these downshifts do not seem normal to me. I’ve owned a 2018 Tundra before this with none of these issues).
Most recently, another issue cropped up with hard up shifts around 45-50mph, where you can definitely feel something is off.
Since there’s no check engine lights they said all is good. I asked to have the fluid levels checked, they said levels and pressure were normal.
They also couldn’t say why these issues started after 2 years of owning the truck with no issues whatsoever.

I completely understand your frustration since two techs confirmed your complaint on the test drives, and you still have the problem. As a former tech myself I can tell you that even master techs can only report what they found to the service adviser, after that its out of their hands on what direction the dealership decides is normal or not. I would consider trying another dealer if that's possible to see if you can get better service, and hopefully a better result. good luck.

Try changing the tranny fluid. I just hit 60k and the manual recommends a fluid change if towing. I don’t tow far regularly but do tow a 7500lb boat a short distance regularly. Transmission was shifting hardish at low speed when not towing. I drained and filled with Toyota WS trans fluid and it’s like a whole new transmission. I didn’t flush and only drained 3.5qts which is what’s held in the pan of the 11+ in the system. It made such a difference I can’t believe it for only a quarter of what’s in there.

At 24k miles though? I don't have a problem doing it, just surprised that this issue started, no towing at all.
