Started at 0900 and just finished (1900). Redid the flooring downstairs and in both bathrooms. Prepping to rent/sell the townhome depending on when we find land to build a new house and my 4 car detached workshop.

Featuring shots of my extremely good, but extremely stupid, pitbull Jack who appears to be posing.

I know everyone is probably sick of my garage roof/solar project, but today I finally finished the roof. I had left off the 2 end pieces of ridgecap when I installed the roof because I needed to install the gable trim first. I finally got the trim on last weekend and today I put on the last 2 pieces of ridgecap.

Nice job man. It sure was a lot of work but pretty sweet that it's done now. I hope it makes lots of power for you.

Spent a decent amount of time the last couple days converting half of an outbuilding into a chicken coop. A lot of work and a pain in the ass but my wife and kids are excited, so I guess that makes it worth it!! IMG_9872.jpg

If you don’t already have them, be sure to buy good stock from a breeder. You’ll be much better off. Speaking from experience.

    Flux capacitor!
The exterior of my 20x stall horse barn is moving right along. My masons have a good majority of the exterior stone done. Almost all the standing seam roofing has been completed now. All of my exterior CMU walls are installed and done.
    7FE53087-8F25-4819-8078-500E2A7B3587.jpg
My stucco guys have installed all their scaffolding inside the barn to start installing the metal lathe. The center cupola is 24’x24’ inside dimensions and will have some nice interior finish details later on. The center cupola is over 35’ off the foundation level.

I have site work crews working at a good pace to get all the exterior grade work prepped for roads, curbs, drainage and finish grades. There will be over 100 of these massive 2x2x6 limestone blocks around the 100x200 covered arena. They weight in at 4,000 lbs each! It’s going to look sharp when it’s all done.

Not much, yet so much. I cleaned up the flame sensor on our furnace as it was faulting. I just did a light sanding with 160 grit to bring it back to new shine. Back in with a new hepa air filter, good as new.

Laid another 200-some-odd feet of flooring.

Only have master bed/bath (with accompanying bath rehab), kitchen (under appliances), and laundry room (under w/d) left to go.

    Getting close.

Is that the flooring from Costco? If so, what do you think of the quality so far?

It is from costco. I’m happy with it so far.

I’ve laid 45 of 69 boxes I bought in early February so there’s only a short test time to speak to. I haven’t had any issues so far and that’s with 2 very large dogs on it.

I’m pretty sensitive about not dragging stuff across it unless it has felt feet or wheels, mainly due to the complaints in the online reviews. But no problems so far.

The consistency from box to box is outstanding. I haven’t had a single plank that was damaged or where the tracks were jacked up. So far, at least.

I’m less concerned with longevity because I’m expecting to move on from this house in a couple of years, but there’s no indications that it won’t last in what I’ve experienced so far.

A couple of other folks here have been laying the same stuff recently, IIRC.

Slab is going in about a month from now. this virus has shut down so much in NY. Can’t even get stones to backfill a little more.

I always like the seeing the construction of a pole barn building. They are not very common in Texas. Great way to get a large structure done fast and at a more reasonable cost. Congrats on your new building!

If your in a pinch a newish, crisp (any denomination) dollar bill works very well to clean igniters, flame sensors and thermo couples
