i gave in yesterday and turned on the sprinklers. super stoked i didn't need to replace anything this year. not so super stoked on what it does to my water bill.

a few projects on the list for this summer one of which is to build a bed for our middle daughter, the ballerina. she wants to yank the doors off her closet and convert it to a sleeping cave. we've already installed floor to ceiling mirrors on one wall and a ballet bar on another. if she puts her bed in the closet, she'll have a significant amount of space to practice when she isn't at the studio.

i've been practicing on corner joins on some old scrap wood i had lying in the garage but i may need to pick up some new tools (damn) to really do it right.

Your daughter has it really bad ass that you're willing to do that stuff for not a lot of parents would be willing to do that for their kids

just trying to make sure to do all the things my parents didn't do and give her the love and support she needs. she wants this as a career and she's totally able. the way i see it, it's no different than having a kid who's an olympic level athlete.

the key, i think, is being flexible to let them try stuff and not to force anything. they'll find something and you'll know when they do.

Must be a huge closet. I built a queen bed for my youngest using 2x10 lumber. Once I sanded it down and added some dark stain it looked store bought.

2x10? that bed isn't going anywhere.

measures slightly smaller than a full. we found a place that will do a custom sized mattress for a reasonable cost. should be a fun project.

Wish I had taken pictures before putting the mattress on it. The stain I used did the trick. It was a stain and poly in one. Saved a lot of time. 2 coats did it.

    Picture.

Sunday afternoon I had neighbors over to weld the mount on the bow stop on on boat trailer. Mount is galvanized and crappy factory welds had cracked from running 4000 lb boat up against roller. Had the grind galvanized coating off first. Neighbor did a great job and now better than new. Earlier in day I jacked up the brake axle and pulled wheel. I have oil bath hubs and set screw in filler hole is frozen. Soaked in PB Blaster after making a little dam with nut and plumber putty. Only soaked for 4 hours and still wont budge. Next attempt will be at least a 24 hour soak. Sunday evening I got on Tacoma forum and found a vendor that sells vinyl rings to cover nasty chrome around vents. I think the set is about $28. I see another mod in my future.

    HA!

We had several in the backyard that I actually rented a bobcat to aid in digging out and pulling. When I was digging this one out, someone mentioned that I should hook my truck up to it. I told them that I liked my rear window too much to do that.

I built my house and had to remove a ton of stumps, best way i found was to use a pair of forks (pushed to one side) on the bobcat, go around and break the roots then work the forks under the stump and tilt and lift at the same time.

Yeah, the bobcat would have been handy on this one, but I didn't use the bobcat on it when we had it rented because of the location of this stump. It was in an elevated flower bed that is surrounded by a rock wall. I couldn't really get the bobcat up there without destroying the wall. So, I just dug this one out with a shovel, and cut the roots when I encountered them. Then, once I got low enough to get a bite on it, I used a floor jack to separate the final pieces and lift it out.

Haven't tried one. We thought about renting one, but I needed the bobcat for leveling the backyard anyway, so I figured that I would just use it to yank all of the stumps out.

The grinders look pretty slick, though.

I ended up hating my entire yard, so gotta go! Travertine and new paver sidewalks front and side. The rest will be removed Wednesday, starting from scratch. I’m very exited, this is gonna be cool.

Mowed and trimmed the lawn. Blew the extra grass out and called it good. Can’t do much in the backyard while they build the patio.
