Got started on my garage roof project this weekend to prepare for the solar panel installation. Structural engineer said I need to double up the 14' long 2X8 purlins that run between the steel I beams. 7 down, only 41 more to go. I'm gonna need to find some help.IMG_20191020_203044.jpg

Thanks!! I hear you! I used to be the grounds keeper for a guy with 20 acres of manicured property and I definitely don’t want that much maintenance. We are planning a decent yard for the dogs and the kids but our goal is to keep as much natural as we can. I sorta have a black thumb so flower beds around the house might just be rock beds with a few selective low maintenance shrubs and plants. Between my dogs and the deer keeping a lot of plants will probably be difficult anyway.

Took advantage of the unseasonably warm weather and finished putting things away for winter. Then mounted the snowblower, weights, and chains on the Wheel Horse. That 60" mower deck as it turns out weighs over 300lbs .

Installed a new Chandelier and dimmer in our dining room. Lighting can change the look and feel of a room.

Do you mind telling me where you purchased and how much? You can PM if you would like. I ran new electrical and mounted a box to hang one without ever looking at them and can't believe the price some of these are, $1000 plus!

It’s from Pottery Barn and originally retailed for $399. I got it for 70% off so I only paid $120 plus tax. I bought mine at the Pottery Barn outlet which is typically way below anyone else's price.

Here’s a link for the same light online at $158.

My daughter inherited this from her great grandmother. The detail isvabsolutely unreal. I have boxes of stuff for it that I am afraid to even show her

Does anyone have a suggestion for this exterior door? I sanded it down to the metal and repainted it but the rust came back. I did not primer it because the paint I used claimed to be paint+primar.

It looks like crap and is driving me nuts.

Did you wire-wheel it? I’m not sure if sanding would remove everything.
None the less, I’d definitely use a Rustoleum Primer, and then a Rustoleum exterior enamel, that’s oil based.

Wire wheel and primer like @Boosted4runner said. I had a similar issue with a door last year. I'll go out and see if I can find the primer or paint I used cuz it has been holding up well and my door was in much worse shape. In fact I need to replace it cuz the rust ate some holes right through in some spots. Quick cheap fix was to cover the problem. I used a dark red, almost rust colored paint, maybe that's why it looks okay still lol

Working on remodeling our kids' bathroom. The previous acrylic tub cracked. Had to remove the tub and one piece wall section. Going with steel tub and tiled walls this time.
Certainly not glamorous and I'd rather be modding my Tundra, but life is getting in the way.20191021_215603.jpg

    Beautiful!
Suggestion - Plant grass sooner than later! It’s easier to plant grass and kill it than kill weeds that just spread millions of seeds.
Having to remove weeds because grass was not planted in time is a M’Fer!!!
Weeds suck. I had some that were 6-8ft tall at some points because I didn’t plant grass in time.

Great advice right here. And fall is the best time to plant grass. Then you can work on weed prevention and control in the spring. Its almost impossible to plant new grass and prevent/kill weeds in the spring. Especially if you live in an area that crabgrass grows. That shit will destroy a lawn that looked perfect from April-June, and there is nothing you can do about it. Plant grass now, weed seeds do not germinate until spring or summer so you'll have nice grass this fall, then put down your pre emergent herbicide in early spring. Pre emergent is awesome stuff, but it really can't be used on a lawn that is younger that 3 or 4months, so I would never suggest planting in the spring for that reason alone, and there are more reasons too. Then next summer you can pull and spot kill any weeds that may arise, and also safely use various fertilizers, weed killers, bug and pest controls, etc because your lawn is established already.

    Sooo much better said! :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:
    And Spot F’ING on!!! LOL
I planted multiple acres in September, and still was fighting weeds in May. Thankfully I could spray!
I couldn’t imagine trying to grow grass that was fighting with weeds the entire time.

Yesterday was a long time coming! So incredibly stoked! My 11yr old girl finally registers on the mower! Earlier in the summer she was too light weight. I unplugged the seat plug but the mower wouldn’t start.
She did a kick ass job for her first time. She’ll be busy next year :D

Oh, and planted 21 cedar trees

Look at her go!!!! I started mowing my yard as a kid on the rider at around 8 I think. I did the neighbors yards too as I got a little older. I'll tell you what, a driving that lawnmower around gave me a huge advantage and head start to being able to drive a car. Good for her and good for you for getting her out there, I love it.
Those trees will be great once they grow up a bit, adding to an already amazing property. That had to be a back breaker. You certainly aren't a stranger to manual labor, you're a better man than I.

She’s going to be on the manual trans Kubota soon! For the very reason of getting some experience. She wanted to pull the Tundra forward a few months ago (without help), and she did a good job....she didn’t end up at the other end of our field :D
LOL! I actually used a 3-PT auger to dig the holes, so it wasn’t bad :p

Which Kubota do you have? I am in the market for one. I used to run B series at my old job so I know I need something bigger than that.

It’s the MX5100D - 53hp turbo diesel. Handles 7ft implements. There have been a few times I wish a had the HST trans, but for the most part the manual has treated me fine. I’ve moved a few thousand yards of dirt with it, among many other things.

I would consider a rust treatment as well. After sanding and maybe wire wheel. Many products out there to chemically treat the rust before painting.

Nice! I will definitely be going for the HST I have run both and it makes a big difference when doing loader work or mowing, plus I am already used to the rocker pedal Kubota uses.
