Yes, that is the one that I was referring to. Here is an example picture of the type of french drain you are looking at doing. The fabric is another important part to not forget. It will keep the soil from clogging the gravel and the perforated drain. The gravel is giving the water an area to drain out of the pipe and back into the ground. I hope this helps. 08C96DD3-B9B3-46AE-9D50-BC68D3EB3A42.jpg

That helps a ton, thank you!

I'll have to figure out the discharge. Coring the sidewalk isn't likely going to be approved by the city. I'll likely have to discharge out onto the end of the lawn and let it run over the sidewalk. Alot of my neighbours have just extended their sump hoses and run them to the ends of their driveways. Looks kinda lame but it works. I'd much prefer to do the French drain and have just a small exposed but of pipe dumping out at the end of the yard.

This is exactly what I was thinking.
I think trenching is the hardest chore. Gluing PVC pipe isn’t much harder than laying French drain pipe down. The core cutting of the curb being the hardest.

Our rental house has the gutters drain in this fashion. Works great.

Well, I guess my house gutters too (but drains into the forest not onto a street).

I agree. I’m going to be building my barn doors soon and trying to flip through 61 pages of Home Improvements on here sucked :p
I found the Barn Door Build though

Do any of the neighbors fill the opposite side of the sidewalk with rock (decorative)? Or does everyone keep it grass?
You could run under the sidewalk with PVC and discharge into the other side and fill it with rock.

Just don’t place boulders that are too tall - they will destroy a car door.

Nope. From what I can tell from the surveys, our property ends at the edge of the sidewalk from there to the street is city property. We're not supposed to mess with those sections other than mowing them.

This is all I did, dug trench out from the house, 1-1.5 foot deep. River rock bed at the end where the water runs off, another layer of rock on top of the end of the pipe, then I covered it back up. Grass already grown back over, I need to fill it in a bit more, a little divot is there.

@1UPPER might LOL at this but it seems to be working, the water at the corner of the house is gone.

Anyone have a whole home generator? If so, how much was it to install? I can buy a Generac 22kw for $4700 and looking at around $3k for install.

A few days ago, I heard a dull thud outside. Looked out the window but didn't see anything so shrugged it off. When I got home from work my kids said: "Daddy, you have to go out and look at the eagle!"

Carpenter ants! They had gotten inside and hollowed it out to the point that it collapsed and fell apart! Nasty little bastards! Definitely time to put out some ant baits!

We have a neighbor down the road who makes these chainsaw carvings and I'm pretty sure he made the eagle.

We are having a very large maple tree removed in about a month or so that is too close to the garage and unhealthy, and I was thinking about having the neighbor come over and carve a huge bear statue out of the trunk of the tree. Picture it. See how the trunk goes up about 12 feet and then splits into multiple leaders. He could make a huge bear in a menacing pose with it's arms up using 2 of the leaders! For some reason, my wife is not crazy about the idea. She rolls her eyes at me when I mention the idea.

Carpenter ants are a real bastard. We didn't find out they were in our house until I was removing aluminum siding and the window sill plus about 2 feet of sheathing came with it. In the end I had to replace about 8 feet of sill plate, 4 studs, a window, and 2 sheets of sheathing.

Been following along this thread for awhile. We just closed on our first house, first thing was to epoxy the garage floor and remove a wall (or try to). First pic is just starting to grind down the layer of paint and top layer of concrete, second is concrete prepped, third is completed, fourth is cured and wall painted. Took us a day start to finish on the floor.

Tried to remove the wall separating the rooms, but there is plumbing and electrical in both posts so we are going to settle with removing the pony wall between because I don't want to move the plumbing or electrical. Also started demoing the floor and all the random trim, fake beams they had installed.

Been following this thread, haven’t had an opportunity to post until recently.

The garage floors were done earlier this month. I still need to paint the doors.

My office/media room we painted this past weekend.

Lots of nice ideas in this thread that I will definitely utilize in my home.

This is a few weeks late but I put a little work in to get my house ready before I put it on the market. New bark, restrained the deck and the fence, had to replace a shower valve to fix a dripping facet. Nothing to difficult but it payed off. We accepted an offer at $5k over asking price and the house is now sold.
