I am not advocating against salt water pools if that's what you're hinting at. The next pool I get will be salt water for sure.

Hmmm...so why not get rid of those complications altogether?
Salt water pools are extremely easy to maintain!!
And it's cheap to convert to a salt water system.
Again...I'll never go back to chlorine.
The only person to complain was the guy who maintained our pool.
I suspect it was cheaper and easier to maintain was the reason.
I told the guy to just vacuum the pool and I'll take care of the rest at a reduced cost.
He of course complained about my proposal since he'd make less money.
You can do what you want and I'm in no position to interfere.
Just trying to save you a few bucks.

i saw a video the other day saying that the "chlorine smell" from a pool was from urine. they tested it and put it in a bucket with chlorine and water, then a bucket with chlorine, water and urine....he could only smell the "chlorine smell" with the one with urine in it. he put like 5 mL of urine in a 5 gal bucket. blew my mind. now it' son the internet, so who knows if it's actually true haha

    Oh...and as I said.
It turns saltwater into chlorine as it passes through the cell.
Once it passes through the cell it reverts back to a mild saltwater solution.

My coworker had the salt set up... He had problems with the system going bad all the time and having to replace it... He finally gave up on the salt water system and went back to chlorine... He said NEVER AGAIN will he go with the salt system

Salt system is just splitting the chlorine off the salt, and using that to chlorinate the pool. There's still chlorine involved, no?

EDIT: Nevermind, @IMXPLRN already said it.

i worked with 2 people that said this ( i didn't wanna bring it up). but they had bad luck with cells going bad or out and the cost to repair being so high. one regretted it completely, the other one said he didn't, but wasn't happy with how it was going.

We bought our house about 12 yrs ago with a pool that had a salt water chlorine generator. Our first pool. I would recommend it to others.
Is it perfect? No. The cells do have to be replaced every 4ish years, they aren't cheap, prices have gone up the last few years; $300-400 for the knock offs & $700-800 for name brands. They can be replaced by most DIYers. Not sure if this cost offsets the chlorine tabs or not (probably not) but I don't have to go buy it or handle it.
Chemistry maintenance is key, never really had any issues.
The wife's complaint; "It doesn't smell right" (not smelling the chlorine)

Edit: Those cell prices are for pools up to I believe 40k gallons, ours is like 27k. Smaller pools could use a smaller more affordable cell.

Welp, if you don't want her to complain anymore just let her know that the "chlorine smell" is actually Chloramines which are formed when the chlorine reacts with various body fluids, including urine, sweat and whatever else is found on or leaking out of the body.... That should make her feel better, and you're welcome!

We decided to turn our formal dining room into an office for us and the kids to do homework when needed. Well, then I got a job working from home, so I needed the office even more. Decided to set it up to allow multiple kids to use it at once. Considering we have 5 kids, there's a high possibility we'll have 2+ kids needing a computer or desk at the same time. Decided to go with a "T" shaped desk. My work station has been working well for me and the kids will sometimes use the leg to do puzzles. Glad we got the barstools that slide underneath the desk out the way. I had shuffled some light fixtures/fans around since the big light fixture didn't work anymore for these needs, plus I wanted a fan for when I'm working.

In setting up the new irrigation stuff, I came to realize we have two different spigots leaking outside, from the shaft of the valve stem.

In both cases, all it took was popping off the top screw, removing the compression nut on top the shaft passes thru, and swapping out a rubber washer. I’d had a DANCO assorted spigot washer kit on-hand from another project, one washer was a perfect fit for one spigot, and was able to use my hole punch kit to adapt out a 2nd custom washer for the other spigot.

Shit part is, I’ve got a slow leak thru a valve inside my garage wall that acts as an emergency shutoff for the spigot in my back yard, and I need to replace the lower washer (slow drip) Which means draining the whole damn house, all its pipes, to fix the washer, and hope it’s not the valve seat that’s the issue.
