My large barn and arena project site is almost done with the rough grade work. I’ve got over 80,000 sq ft of footings on this project. B63D9DBC-FC90-429F-A726-A93132514BDA.jpg

Sand has been placed and prepped before we start framing. This is a lot easier to place it now before the building goes up and avoids doing it all by hand later. I’ll have the sand covered with a tarp before framing begins tomorrow. The framing stage is always my favorite process in construction. 5970CFE0-3CF8-4708-8CF8-02D8701A2A7C.jpg

Looks like an adult sand box! Or a sand castle competition area! And nice photo bomb with your truck!

Lol. The goats prefer a soft and clean area to lay down. So sand is a must. I did the gravel layer below the sand for drainage.

Yeah, I’m always driving my truck on various sites. So photo bombing with the Tundra is very common. :mudding:

Trimmed up my front tree. The lower branches were around 6 feet off the ground, now the lowest branches are 10 feet plus and i culled some interior branches. Loaded up the truck with half the branches to get rid of tomorrow.

Looking good! Make sure you seal the cuts on oak trees as you make them. The beetle that causes oak wilt is active now and they go over fresh cut trees this time of the year. Once a tree has oak wilt it spreads to all surrounding oaks through the root system. Just a friendly heads up.

Good tip, I ran out of spray sealer after trimming the rear tree, so I have to get some more. I am not sure what the front tree is, but it is not an oak

Do they make a specific 'tree sealer' type product for this?
I just had a lot of disease cut out of an oak in my front yard.

This is what I use. Oak wilt can also be spread from a chainsaw or blade that has already cut an infected oak wilt tree. That’s why it’s important to make sure all saw blades or chainsaws are cleaned after each project. I learned all this from my old house. My neighbor across the street hired a landscaper to trim his oak trees. He had chainsaws that had already cut oak wilt infected trees. So my neighbors trees died then mine several years later. I had one oak at my gate that was over 150 years old that died from oak wilt. It’s spreading like wild fire in the hill country areas. It’s really sad to see. Wow that's terrible that is happening down there. A 150 year old tree just gone. That sucks
