What home improvement work did you do today?

Going to aldi!

 

Looks like an aldi's trip is in my future. Those are $100+ all day long everywhere else. I have a similar one on my deck already but for $35 I'm getting at least one more

 

I'm going tomorrow.

 

My excavation crews and rock milling machine are almost done preparing my next barn site. Should be able to start setting my building corners for the barn, arena and lounge this week.

Should have geo technical coring done in the next week.This has to be done for my covered arena foundation piers.

 

This is a simple goat barn that I’m doing for a client. It’s 25x30 with 8’ high walls and engineered scissor trusses. The exterior will be all Hardi board and batt siding. I’m doing 42” high of corrugated metal panels on the lower portion of the exterior walls to avoid cribbing (chewing). It will have a standing seam metal roof. I’ll keep updates on this project as it progresses.

 

That's what my wife and I need. Specifically the land with trees. Greenhouse would be nice too

 

I finished the dang ceiling fan finally, not doing that again.

Over the years I learned a few tricks about installing ceiling fans. Put the fan motor, blades and down rod together on the floor or ground first. Then you mount the ceiling fan hanger on the ceiling. You can then lift the fan and down rod to hang off the ceiling fan bracket. This makes he install a lot easier and quicker. Then all you have to do is connect your electrical wires and cover the bracket with the ceiling fan trim plate.

Man an a-frame ladder on top of baker scaffolding...better be careful with that setup. I have seen guys have some nasty falls on jobsites doin that.

Just be careful man, one fall could change your life forever and you would wish you went and got a ladder the correct height or full scaffolding. House is looking great and I like your fan choices!

 

It really was not as bad as it looked. The ladder was screwed to the baker. I have plenty of the baker scaffolding, but the height just was not working out. 2 was not enough and 3 was to much. Sometimes you just have to make things work, or at least that’s how it’s always been for me. But I really do appreciate someone caring about me.

 

Not really a home improvement...more of a belly and pallet improvement. First artichoke harvest, only a few large ones, several mediums from 3 healthy plants.
Does anyone have experience growing artichokes? If so, is it time to pull them when they begin to open up slightly? That's what I've always done, but wonder how I can give these smaller ones more time to grow




Washed, trimmed, soaked in lemon water as the pots boil. Check out that lopsided rice cooker...I forgot it on my bed rail as I drove away from a potluck last month. Doesn't fit the Instapot anymore, but works great for some choke boilin!

 

New goat barn project has been prepped with 3/4” to dust gravel for base material. I’ve got a load of arena sand being delivered tomorrow. Framing should start Friday. Plan is to get the barn dried in by the end of next week.
