Pools and boats are the same thing. Fun to have but a gigantic pain in the ass and expensive when something goes wrong.

Something else that gets overlooked if you have a sand filter recommendation is every 10 years to replace the sand.

He got it at an auction. He has less then 50% cost of a new one in on this one. Especially with free labor from myself, wife and a neighbor. Haha.

Was drawing up plans for a raised bed expansion earlier as part of next week’s list of chores, making more room for fruit vines instead of just produce. Anyway, keep getting a chuckle out of this mutant asparagus in our asparagus/strawberry bed, it started out thicker than a half dollar coin, then grew 3+ feet in a couple different directions. Totally nuts.

I replaced the sand once. Never again. Next time I'll replace the whole filter and pay a couple of young guys to take the old one away.

I'm no pool expert, just a diy'er. Do you have to add CYA separately to salt pools? Coming from a chlorine pool, CYA is kinda that elephant in the room that you have to keep an eye on. Use too many chlorine tablets and your levels will skyrocket. Only way to get them down is to partially drain your pool and refill.
By the end of last summer i think my CYA levels were at 90-100 and it dropped about half over winter.

For salt pools the chlorine is a gas, so you have to add CYA to prevent loss of chlorine due to sunlight. I let the CYA level go a few years ago and the chlorine went to 0. Brought the CYA up to 30 and the chlorine was perfect with no other adjustments. Stabilized chlorine already has the CYA so I can see what you mean, but never thought about that before.

If your budget supports, I highly recommend converting to salt. Initial cost I think is around $1200 now, if you can work with PVC pipe and three wire electricity. You do have to replace the cell every 5 years or so, I think the last time I bought one it was 4 or 5 hundred. Only two union joints so total DIY.

I was really close to converting a few summers ago when chlorine prices skyrocketed and could barely get any. Our pool builder installed the salt chlorine generator (pentair intelichlor i think is what it is), we just never used it....its never been used, but i have no idea if it works or not. Would suck to throw a bunch of salt in the pool and find out i had to buy a replacement. I eneded up just eating the cost of the expensive chlorine.
Growing up, we always had chlorine pools so its what i'm familiar with. I've heard very good things about salt though. The only bad thing i've heard is from my neighbor buddy that had the big pool builder from our area say that they highly recommend NOT going salt and it would void their warranty if they did. Not sure why.

That's wierd, maybe they're using plumbing materials affected by salt water? Or they sell chlorine and other chemicals and want your money.

I would just dump the salt in and see. If it doesn't work decide then. You won't have to pump the water out, just go back to chlorine. I think you'll be surprised at how much more stable and less expensive it is.

With half a day off good weather I was able to dig up and remove an old cedar stump and a couple of shrubs.
My Buddy wanted my front steps so when I took the steps down I pulled out all screws, bolts and nails so it'll be easier for him to re purposes it.
    Then it was hammer time.

Those team red hammers work great. That's what we used when we realized water wasn't flowing out while remodeling the basement. Quick camera down the drain showed the assholes who built the house 20yrs ago installed the backwater valve backwards when they stubbed the basement bathroom out.

Not sure what voodoo Milwaukee discovered with those, but I've never used a hammer drill quite like it:thumbsup:. Like a hot knife through butter, and very good isolation from the vibes. Mine is a click or two smaller than that behemoth

It's pretty amazing what that thing can do, going through that concrete and rocks like nothing. The handle has an 1.5 of spring loaded recoil movement that absorbs a majority of those tuff spots, it feels like an ordinary hammer drill but with good weight, maybe 30#.
The downfall is it drinks batteries like a fish I had burnt through 3 of them in about 1/2 hr.and there 12.O lithium but better than slinging my 20# hammer and risking breaking the storm door with debris ricochet all over the place.

Whoa, I have only use mine for a small amount if demo... that's a hungry tool. I've run a P-90 (90# jackhammer) for a week in my 30s and it will kill you or make a man outta you.
I'd ice shield that entire (lower pitch) roof over the front porch addition. What's the pitch on that like 2.5 - 3? Up here in the frozen tundra anything less than 4/12 is not ideal.
That's going to be a nice space

    Thanks Bro!
I forget what the model # of it is but worth it's weight for sure.
All honesty this is a project I tried to launch last year and all of my friends of merit were tied up,so it fell to the back burner, well until we got engaged.
We are having our ceremony at the house so I've amped it up on getting projects started & done by June...
There is no moss on my heels.
So yeah ,I pulled the trigger and having it done professionally to shave off a little coin I'm removing the little decking and stairs which did save me a lot.

The deck will be 8.5"X40' with 4 columns it'll be wide open and just above grade height this way I can avoid railings and Bannisters,I wanted and open feel to it without restrictions of railings and such.

Had to rapid defrost this SOB today. At least that’s what our new-ish (4mo old) LG fridge was telling me. But when I pulled the shelves out of the freezer and popped off the back wall, there was virtually no ice anywhere. Why the hell is it throwing a 1F / IF error then? Supposed to mean a fan for ice creation is iced up. Got it double warranted (never used LG appliances, just their TVs, got tired of repairing the 20yo Frigidaire) so if it happens again I’m calling it in. Y’all see any ice in here I’m missing?!

Yeah it's so quiet because it's dead....
All kidding aside looks like the evap froze up and probably caused ice to imped one or both fan's to give you that error code.
Like T Rex mentioned could be the board not reading the temp bulb properly.
I dunno not there so I'm shooting from the hip.
You bought the warranty so definitely use it,you'll spend some time on the phone unfortunately you're going to explaining it several times to multiple people.

    Good luck man.

The second and third Pic shows ice build up that's no bueno.
Defrost cycle it is a timed event & scheduled where it reverses the roles the evap becomes the condenser and the condenser becomes the evap.
I don't believe it has and additional time clock which leads me to believe it's on a separate board.

Yup, was talking with a friend and his mom today about their Samsung. Similar situation. Keeps freezing up. Class action lawsuit. I won’t buy Samsung appliances or TVs and I refused to buy Frigidaire also, after we got screwed with a microwave dying in like 18 months, and it had a 12mp warranty. Our appliance guy would’ve replaced it but they stopped making it 6 months ago, they barely ran it for 2 years.

Just can’t get good appliances anymore.
