It would be an electric heat pump. Just not sure is geothermal is the right way to go.

Gotcha, no experience with geothermal in my area. Power is dirt cheap here so every appliance in my house is electric

Yes, it is referred to as a mini split. I ended up splurging for a solar system, so I generate more electricity that I use during the summer sunny days. I get credit for the electricity I put back onto the grid for now. I have a small (10KWh) back up batter in case the grid goes down at night or cloudy days. My wife was all over the backup battery as she has has times when I was out of town working and power was out for 5 days.

Our standby generator had an error (saw the red light the other night while cutting grass). Checked it and it was kinda open to what it could have been. Friend of mine (practically a sister) works for a generator company that services them. One of her techs called me and said it was prob the battery considering the circumstances and time since changed. Batter was installed mid 2018. Ended up getting a free battery (don't ask how o_O). Swapped it and good to go.
Also had a starter for it given to me that was pulled off another motor they replaced that is for mine. Apparently generac starters are known for failing. So it was a nice score today!

One of the things the recruiter can't throw at them any more is a fully funded retirement after 20 years. The military now has Thrift Saving Plan (TSP) which is like a 401K. You get out what you contribute. I don't know of too many young pfc's, airman, or seaman that can think that far ahead and fully contribute to TSP when they first join.

We are allowing what was once the greatest fighting force in the world to be taken apart a piece at a time.

The wife and I pick home improvement projects indoors during the summer. This year I am redoing a closet for the other half.

Roof installation started on the 21st and finished on the 26th. Should be alot better once we replace the 13 yr old AC with clogged coil in the air handler.

Did the same when we rebuilt our 20-plus year old 10x20 last year, went with a builder's grade composite. The wood one Was a DIY from previous owners. I won't even get into a couple of the 4x4 support posts terminating a few inches below ground without footers, which we didn't even know about until the tear down. To start off with previous owners never treated the wood deck for its entire life then slapped cheap Behr semitransparent sealant on it including all the posts and the pergola and the outsides of all the rim joists for curb appeal prior to sale. I'd have preferred they left it un-treated so I could start with what I wanted. But they just had to do that. Wife never wanted to paint, so to not deal with color change issues I re did it bi annually with the same stuff a few times until I got lazy. Then I just kept patching spots. Then I got to seeing more rot and board replacements every year. Finally last year we went for Fiberon and I was able to toss out my old staining stuff and just go to rinsing. IT was a great day tossing old stain, rollers and brushes. One year I even got really fancy and scuffed the surface as part of the prep. Made no perceptible difference in durability.

So much happier not dealing with any wood maintenance. Toward the end it felt like I was seeing new wear spots in the finish or boards needing replacement almost every time I'd step out to go to work.

I really like the design as the cabinet doors don’t hit the fan cabinet. Unlike our home…. Excellent tile job.

Did a little baby proofing on the back deck in the form of plastic chicken wire. Turned out way better than I expected for just $60 of material.

Lattice strips to cover gaps in fence. Our dog barks the odd time when the neighbour is cleaning his pool (which is about a foot from the fence) or leaf blowing the pool deck area and has complained a few times.

Now I can't see him and he can't see me. Hopefully it fixes the barking. We will finish the bottoms later.

Finally painted our dining room ceiling after 6 years of hemming and hawing over it. It was cracked and we had it repaired, my lazy ass just didn't want to paint it. Prepping to paint the trim, moulding, and doors. Stupid damn doors. I also want to take out the shitty wallpaper but the wife has overruled me so far. Pretty sure that it's gonna rip when I take the tape off. I've already started to pick out paint colors.

It's a Victorian from the late 1890's so the chandelier stays and new curtains aren't in the budget. ;)

Trade the Tundra for new curtains! :D

Okaaaay, I guess the historically significant chandelier can stay then... You should have "accidentally" dropped the bucket of ceiling paint though so it "accidentally" splattered the walls.

    :eek::eek2: I'd never trade the Bifmobile! :)

The curtains are throughout the downstairs but I agree I'd like them gone. They are a bitch to clean and I just don't care for the color. But the wallpaper is definitely something on the list to get rid of. It's peeling and I just don't freaking like it. Our upstairs hallway has some too so I'm going to practice removing that before I work on fixing the dining room... :fistbump:

If you happen to suddenly disappear from the forum then we will assume that you touched her wallpaper and that it didn't go well when she found out. :D
