Are they going to cover the rest of the line set? If not paint the insulation with white roof coating. Also, either wrap that exposed 3/8 copper tube with 10mil tape or somehow get it away from the edge of the clamp if it’s touching, that’s a leak waiting to happen. Can you get a closed fist around all sides of the unit?

That's the finished install. There's plenty of room around the unit. Why use roof coating? You figure there's enough vibration for that clamp tonwear through the copper tubing?

The insulation will dry rot from the suns UV rays, so down here we just use white roof coating to prolong its life.
From the pic, it looks tight to the house and fence, serviceability is the other half of a install. There is definitely enough vibration to rub thru the copper tubing, “I’ve seen it a 1000 times”
Just little things that I noticed, nothing alarming, but be aware.
Also more gravel around the unit so it sucks up less dirt, and leaves from the ground.

    Good advice, thanks.

That area is in shade 99.9% of the time, but an ounce of prevention as they say. I'll get some tape around the tubing at the clamp and add more gravel too.

There’s also risk of galvanic corrosion between the clamp and the bare copper when moisture is present. Less of a concern in Mo’s region, but still better to protect agsinst

There’s only one full size toilet at the school so it’s funny to see adults not know where to go.

They might just want to feel like giants. So it's one bathroom that locks with two toilets? I thought it was one of those public bathrooms without the locking door. I feel much better about it now.

Been working on getting the yard for the last few months (in actuality, I guess it's been the last 7 years). Finally have the side yard they way I want it. At least until summer hits next week and burns all my shit up. Still have some wayward weeds to spray from all the rain we've received. Hoping to finish the pathway in the back this fall.

Does anyone have any experience with soft starters on their AC units?? Just trying to be shady out here in Cali and cheat the electric company out of thousands of dollars out of my pocket this summer.

Doing research to jump both my units off of a generator. Seen these on youtube, but would like to see some other peeps who have done similar work as well

Is this San Diego, or Santa Clara? I'm spacing out, but I've seen a similar house with a detached garage, all yellow... I just can't recall what part of Cali. If it's at all in Cali. LOL

    Close. It's in Texas. :)

I wish it was a detached garage :( but it is a pretty decent workshop so there's that.

Let me know when you are roosting near by and I'll be sure to open them. I'd hate to find you laying in the yard.

vision for my dream garage continues to become reality. feeling blessed. cabinets, workshop and slatwall are in. im not a big person so i can still duck and walk around the back. lexus fuji edition keeping the spot warm for it's little brother who just arrived to port from germany :)

plenty more work to do on the garage. overhead storage gets installed tomorrow. gonna hang 4 bikes, detailing and garden equip, and whatever else i can hang up a on the slatwall. blinds are shot and need replaced, audio/video, proper workshop stool, hang more flags (trd and lexus), and some porsche wall art. it's coming along just as i envisioned decades ago.

Im moving into a my new home next week. Have a renovation planned; finishing basement adding bedrooms and bathroom, or converting garage to living space. Do I need an architect or can I just go with a renovation contractor?

    Congrats on the new home.
As for your question - really depends on your budget and your ability to visualize and give good direction. Also depends on the contractor you find. Most good renovation contractors should be able to assist in design choices and help you with designing the space while keeping you informed on the budget of those choices. Some will have designers on staff. I’ve run across a few that were a designer and contractor pair that worked together…The design fee being reduced or waived if you used them for the construction as well.
