What home improvement work did you do today?

Thanks for that and yes we have those screws I believe really small heads on them I think I'm going to cap them by running a border on the out side have not decided yet and also looking at doing this on the bottom To get rid of the rest of the brown

 

Only problem with closing it in like that is trapping moisture.

Ventilation is good, more ventilation is better. Moisture is the killer of wood. And it attracts termites. I know it looks cheap but that lattice is about the best you can do, unless you dig it out. Place moisture barrier and cover it with stone. You can close it. Your house. But unless your looking to make it more appealing for sale. I'd stick with the lattice.

 

Looking at your application, up to you. I just don't know if it would look good.

Well what ever I can do to get rid of all the old stain that's the plain. But yes I need to make sure it last because as you know even doing what I am it's not cheep . I never want to stain this like it was ever. I have been told to wash it every with power washer then seal it.

 

Maybe sand it like you would a interior floor. Just be careful not to go too deep with the soft wood

 

You do need plenty of air flow underneath. I put three horizontal boards on the side that's visible with smallish gaps. On the side that faces the side yard I put one horizontal board. I was going to leave that side open but the dogs kept going under there. I'm thinking about taking one board off of the front for larger gaps, but from the pool you're looking directly at it. Stays pretty dry the way it is now.

 

That looks nice ! My other issue is this deck is so big. Hard to make it look really good in the front part of it.with out doing something like you have .

 

Really want to stretch your budget? Put a porch roof on it and then screen it in.

 

A small sitting area for me and the wife in the front yard just need to build the furniture.

So I put my drainage pipes in and didn’t like them. I took them back out and replaced them with pvc instead. My OCD at its finest!

I just was not pleased with how they met up to the gutter downspouts. I also think the longevity just was not there.

I may add pop ups or just run them on on the the storm ditch, haven’t decided yet.

The only thing with that color, it works with cherry furnishings. There is just a hint of red in it. So if you have walnut furniture it won't work
