Now that we’re done with the freaking $50,000 foundation repair, we can turn our attention to the stuff we’d rather be spending money on—internal redesigns. Not that there’s much money left. So doing nearly everything ourselves now.

First up, repainting the built-ins in our living room. They’re now black; original was a 40-year old boring oak brown. Also discovered underneath it was pre-wired for audio equipment. Now I have a great place to hide my electronics and wire it all behind the wall.

Second, starting to dismantle the fireplace so we can rebuild it. I’m replacing it with a new mantle and shelf we’ll mount a little lower (so we can mount our TV on the wall, finally). Sourcing two pieces to make this work. One will be reclaimed wood sourced from part of the massive piers of the San Francisco/Oakland Bay Bridge that was torn down and rebuilt. The second piece I am still trying to get my hands on, but anticipate it will come from a historic place in California’s Gold Country. My family has been here since 1856, so the history of the state will become a part of our home.

Proslat is the brand. Easy install, goes easier with another set of hands but you can do it by yourself too They have all kind of options. Saw a video of a guy did his whole garage with it.

    For today’s projects, two things.

First up is to finalize the stabilizing work we did outside. But before filling the final hole, I’m burying a skull. I named her Lucy. Sometime decades from now when my property is someone else’s problem, may she scare the living crap out of them when they have to dig like we did.

Second, it’s time to wrap my garage fridge! Yes. I’m serious. I now have a carbonite fridge.

Not much since I spent the weekend visiting with friends, watching football and day drinking. But I did get the magnetic knife block mounted. The best news, my wife said needs one more knife. @gosolo Ray, another order might be coming.

I agree. My interior design and finance manager says one more. :notsure:
I showed her the fillet knife. She said it was too similar. Plus I already have 5 fillet knives. 3 of them are badass. So even I can't justify that.

That gives you a nice high vantage point to look into everybody's back yard. Hopefully you have a hot neighbor that likes to sunbathe topless. And if you do, you better get pics.

It's Canukistan, they seem to export their beautiful women to the states... I'm pretty sure he's the hot neighbor that likes to sunbath topless.

I do have a hot blonde next door. However, she does not sunbathe topless. :(

You should break into her house when she's at work and steal all of her tops. Keep doing it. After a while, she'll just give up and go topless.

    Please send @Azblue pics.
