So I was proud of myself, I was fixing my smaller AC unit myself (replacing capacitor and fan motor) to save some money going into the holiday weekend so I could justify some fun purchases. Had to go with a generic motor due to availability which needed different nuts to hold it to the cover. So I ran to homedepot, weather was slightly overcast but I left tools out since it would be quick....

Fricken Texas and its bi-polar moods. Driving home to almost black skies, they open up! Plus the massive sideways winds and some hail. Get home to rush out and get my tools (pretty sure I ruined my favorite drill :frusty:) and then notice about 30 foot of fence knocked down and killed about 10 of my wife's plants.

So I spent Labor Day doing some labor and rebuilt the fence. My parents arrive Wednesday night with their dog so we will have 4 dogs in the yard so having it secure was high on priorities.

It looks like you missed an opportunity to turn that fallen fence into a deck. That's what I thought it was at first when I saw it outside the sliding door.:notsure:

So, I spent some time last week helping my CO neighbor put up some fence between our properties.

He's SUPER anal about details and one of the details are these lag bolt, cast iron washers on every post where the slats cross the post. Every washer has to be turned so the notch in the center, where the lag goes thru, has to be pointing down, and there are a few hundred of them.
    IMG_20190517_093523300_HDR.jpg

Well, I put in about 70 of these lag/washer combos while there but for some reason one of the washers got installed upsidedown. Not quite sure how that happened.:cool:IMG_20220831_162404086.jpg

I'm sure I'll hear from him sometime in the near future. :D

Started work on updating the fireplace. Cut off 4 shelves and removed some brick.

My wife wanted to get a sun sail for our back patio (now that it's finally cooling down and we'll have to take it down in a month) so I was happy to oblige and take care of the corner post. Got a nice 16' 6x6 and spent longer than expected digging a 4 foot hole through rocky soil. Added 200 pounds of concrete and then sanded and stained it. I also decided to add a little character with some scrap that I cut off the top and hang two solar lanterns off it. Pretty happy with how it turned out, even if we don't put up a sun sail this year.

I've been thinking of getting one for our backyard to go over the pool. Digging a hole for a pole is on the bottom of the list of things my wife wants me to do tho.
Looks good the way you dressed it up a lil

I’ve got four car lifts going in at the end of this month. So I’m excited to see that process start.

Wow, that lift alone is like $34k.

That floor must be about 12" thick.

    Does boat improvement count?

Installed new 80-lb thrust GPS enabled trolling motor  Remote control operated, too :D Wrapped the plug wire splice in heat shrink tubing and ran wire loom over the whole thing. First photo is the tired old one that finally quit on me.

Lowes made a delivery today but they still owe me 565 pavers for the upcoming "Operation PP" (Path and Patio) that'll replace some of the deck I tore out. Operation Funky Fence is almost done. Just need to add the cedar stain tomorrow.

Operation Funky Fence is done. I also removed an old framed-in door from our shed and replaced it with a larger, 36-inch door. Bought a new Schlage handleset for it and swapped out the newer handle for the sun damaged one on the front door.

Just need to paint it and trim around it.

@tripleconpanna Sorry, I was at Chic-Fil-a and I’m always a little sassy until I finish off my 8-piece.

To answer your question about the inspiration for Operation Funky Fence, I just didn’t feel like putting a normal fence up and I really like color. I think I pulled up something on Pinterest and it was something similar. Plus, it kind of goes with the whole weird Victorian theme of the house.
