After a year of being in our house, I finally cleaned and organized the garage. All my wife's stuff now has a place that isn't in our garage.

What is the box on the top of the lavatory (sink) vent?
    upload_2022-8-9_10-16-3.jpg

I'm not a licensed plumber, but I've taken a number of code classes for my job (3d modeling of plumbing and piping systems). While I don't think you'll have any issues with that layout, it feels like order of connections isn't correct for a code horizontal wet vent - unless CO is using something other than UPC. As long as your inspector buys off.

It’s a studor vent. He’s good, sometimes there isn’t much option. Pretty common in that area of Colorado, not sure what code they use, been awhile. Rarely used them in other parts of the country. Impressed with the quality and cleanliness of the work done on his project, makes me happy, should see the stuff I’ve seen.

Our pitties ripped the wall and trim apart one day. Finally got around to replacing that stuff.

Started installing a home theatre system in the living room and without a flexible drill bit, I used electrical tape to hold my bit and drive through the studs. Welp I ended punching a hole through to the kitchen with a 1/2" wood bit lol....so had to repair that. Began running wires and color coded everything. Also rewired and installed a top and bottom outlet to run wires behind the wall. Should finish up tomorrow when the surround mounts show up. Will get better pics of that when done.

Cool - hadn’t run across the studor vent, but we are a commercial shop, not residential. There are a lot of things that get used in residential that simply won’t meet spec or client requirements on commercial work.
I know in Oregon the inspector wouldn’t pass that wet vent setup because the water closet enters upstream of the lav and shower…went back and dug up my notes on it.

Been awhile, but enjoy learning even though it’s not my job anymore, so appreciate any feedback. If I recall correctly the way it’s plumbed the lav is considered dry vent?, after the lav it is a wet vent and shower is ok with trap? Studor vent is one way of course.

Dry vent is above the lav trap arm. Below it is the wet vent portion.

I just installed a basement bathroom with a very similar rough in layout.

Yes, the lav itself is dry vented.

Oregon code, which I believe follows UPC, allows one or two lavs, plus a bidet, a tub or shower, and a water closet to all use a combined horizontal wet vent (the section from where the lav trap arm connects to the vent/drain to where the water closet drain connects), but only under certain conditions (paraphrasing from memory, as I don’t have the book in front of me):
    • Vent must be 2”
    • Max of 6 FUs
    • Only fixtures in the bathroom group are included (no bringing in another sink in a shared wall)
    • The WC must be the most downstream drain to connect
    • No non-horizontal connections into the wet vent section (can’t drop in on a 45 - it’ll promote venting out the trap of that fixture)

In the case of this particular photo, the WC is upstream of the lav and the shower connections. I could argue that the WC is still correctly wet vented in how the connection order is configured, but this still leaves the shower potentially unvented, though doubtful it will ever have any practical issues.

I noticed the other sink drain (bar sink?) in the riser stack (different photo) isn’t technically vented either - to do vertical wet venting all of the fixtures must be in the same story. Again, doubt it would ever have any practical issues, but an inspector might not sign it off.

Finished a little shelving project in the basement for part of my beer can collection. Too many cans to display all of them but at least I have about 40% up now. Gotta wait for the kids to move out in a couple of years and get momma to remove her crafting crap then I can go to town. 061DF27B-27CC-4AAF-8705-7D39EF820EFF.jpgFBD4ECAF-C1DB-4350-87B9-BA533C88FC75.jpg

Too many horizontal and vertical studs in this wall...so paintmatched racetracks will have to do. I'll caulk the holes in the ceiling tomorrow to give it a cleaner look, but sounds good to me!

Over the last few weeks I had my driveway replaced and retaining wall installed. My old driveway was original from the mid 70's and the base was not very good and it started to break apart. The new base has over 70 tons of stone and drains installed along the retaining walls. I also installed a new mailbox and landscaped around the mailbox as well as flowerbed modifications. Tomorrow is 14 days from the time it was installed, so I plan to park the truck and trailer on 3/4" plywood for quite a while. I just did my 5000 mile oil change and wont be doing another until next year (Probably). I can just barely fit my front end of the truck into the garage (Up to the shark fin on the cab) to do these oil changes and thankfully I have a Fumoto and MotivX kit that makes the oil changes very easy without any mess.

We buy juice oranges by the case. I should never be deficient in vitamin C. I believe the orange vodka has some kind of medicinal purpose too. ;)

City inspector arrived today. (Super chill guy). This is a studor vent and is internationally recognized for code compliance. His only suggestion was if I want to move it, have the plumber use it on that 90* bend but no issues. If the plumber does come back to do it, the inspector will not need to return.
    Electrical has also passed inspection.
