We have had a GE GNE27xxxxx French door fridge that we like. Going on 3 years now. The water dispenser is in the inside of the door, so it has a clean look to it, nothing on the front of it sticking out. We have not and will not hook the water line up to it, seen too many houses ruined when the line ruptures.

I’ve worked on ones that are 30 years old!!!! The fridge I had to replace the clogged filter dryer, and door switches.

*hopes like hell the Samsung they bought a year ago continues to work*

Seriously though...it's been fantastic so far. With that said, if it ever goes kablooie, we'll go with a Frigidaire or Maytag or something. I WILL say that we specifically got a fridge without the door ice/water thingy; we've not even hooked up the icemaker. (Yet.) Giving serious thought to just

    *gasp*

    making ice manually.

Yeah, this. I've got a 15 year old sub zero. Replaced a fan motor about a year ago. But think 8K plus. My wife thinks it's loud but she hears things differently than I do. No water or ice dispenser. Just an ice maker.

Rats under the house chewed the water line maybe 12 or 13 years ago. I replaced it with stainless steel braid and killed the rats. No problem since. Fortunately my wife heard the water running and I looked and found the leak.

Is yours a combo? The house I was at had side by sides, but separate, one entire unit was the fridge, and one separate full size freezer. They of course then has a separate undercounter ice maker……. Pretty sweet house in the foothills

If I remember right the fridge and freezer drawers are separate but can be combined. The guy that did our remodeling has been a friend since 1980. Ours was the least expensive kitchen he had done to that point, he took it on as a friend.

Thanks. My friend recommended the integrated look. For a few years we got a kick out of telling people it's in the fridge, or put it in the dishwasher. And then watching them try to find it.

I read a lot of the post posts. It might a good time to check the water pressure.

I’d check the pressure at an easy spot like the outside hose bib that can have a screw on connection. You can purchase a water pressure gage relatively cheap and couplings are available for hose connections. I did it when installing a sprinkler system a long time ago to get an idea of my coverage. The water system is a closed system, so the pressure should be the same if everything is off.

I had a shower at the old house that would drip at different times of the day. I replaced the valve cartridges and no more problem. Moen suggested flushing the system in case there are particles getting into the valve causing problems. Moen is the faucet mfr. I did not have problems after that.

FYI....my fridge hasn't leaked in a couple days. I'm starting to think that purge helped/fixed it. We'll see in a couple days.

Maybe they talking about the water line kits brought from big box store, those kit just punch a small hole in the main water supply to supply water to the fridge. Those one always leak when the gasket get old or the metal needle get rusted. As long as you run a solid pipe behind the fridge wall and use stainless steel braided line connecting from wall to fridge, it shouldn’t be a problem.

    Nothing spectacular.

Replaced a 22 year old 50 gallon water heater while installing a (first time) thermal expansion tank, isolation valves, and all sweated brass/copper.
I'm not a plumber and way to old for taking on this task and yes it did kick my ass.
I took on this project as a personnel challenge to see if I still retain some early life skills.

After seven hours this task is now complete with no leaks.

At the entry way of our home we have this niche that looked very plain. My wife picked out an antique glass tile she wanted to have installed on the back of the niche. It took 14 (1 sq ft) sheets that were $20 each. Cutting all the edges and the arch was tedious work. Glass tiles can be a pain to cut. You have to use the right blade and make sure you have plenty of water if your using a wet saw. Glass heats up quickly and can crack easily. I grouted all the mirror tiles today and cleaned off the haze this evening. My latest home improvement project is done and my wife is very happy.

My wife got me a 85” led tv for Valentines. So I removed our previous 55” and put up the new tv for the Super-Bowl. It fit perfectly above our living room fireplace.

If you have kids like me, you know their sinks can get dirty quickly. I have tried to clean the porcelain sinks with about everything I could think of but nothing would remove the hard water stains. I bought this Scouring Stick at lowes for $3. I had my doubts it would work. I will always be using this stuff on porcelain sinks & tubs. It’s amazing stuff!!!

Moen has lifetime warranty to original purchaser and will send free cartridge supposedly. Going through this with a shower right now after replacing another with $50 Lowe's part. Depends on how soon you need it.
