Well, after planning looking and finally starting, this area will be concreted over to accept a 12' wide X 10' deep shed.

The rotten tree came down this afternoon, and the crew shows up tomorrow to dig and set forms.
After that a majority of the shelving and their contents will be moved to the new shed.

Then the garage becomes home to this baby! The new to me, 2nd owner Bridgeport Mill!

Further updates as progress is made!

Day 3, So I went to back to Home Depot today, I ordered a pallet of bricks last night, and it was waiting for me. I love online ordering, the pallet fit between the wheel wells just fine! This is the second big load for my baby, I love this truck! I'm just sorry I didn't buy one years ago, but glad I did just before the prices went through the roof. Best 10K I have spent in a long time!

So the guys did even more digging, clearing even more crap & dirt out,. I had sand, block delivered today. I finalized the Tuff Shed deal, it's 10' deep X 12' wide and no permit needed. It should be delivered around the 16th or so. The current work will be done by next Wednesday, so I have time to paint the crappy looking garage. The final pic of this series should look terrific!

    Here's the finished shots

Here's the end product of the carport pad. Got a reasonable quote for new carport, ironically it's the same group who did the existing one some 25+ years ago. Getting on their waiting list, I have no intention of doing this myself.

    TCP2OX290dK4af4x4rqEo0nfz_mucfnrJg6XZzeI_ae1d26ffb17d5f6dc63c1facf564133fe0a2b71c.jpg

And the pad at the shed. The discoloration is from where some kid who was with the work crew walked across the wet cement and tried to hide it. The installer tried to smooth it it, it'll bleach out over time. I'm not so worried about it.
I got a quote for just the hardware to build a lean-to off the back from the same guys doing the carport. 8X28, again just the hardware, I install. It was over half of what the carport quote was and that one is installed! Not going to do that. I'm going to drop the compressor out on the pad, build a little sound barrier/fence thing and install a cheap overhang to offer it some protection. It doesn't get that cold around here and i've seen all sorts of garages have their compressor sitting outside so I figure what the hey.

What was really interesting to me was how debris he dug up out there. Broken pottery and glasses. Like someone used the field as a dump at one time. There is an old road running through my property up my drive way, maybe it's just junk from the road.

Continuation from 7526. They majority of the exterior paint is done, except for some extra siding that they added on the back lower patio. The one side was just concrete so they put PT plywood and siding to eliminate the concrete half wall appearance. All the framing fixes were completed so interior insulation was completed, except for ceilings where blown in insulation will be done. We have a storage room in the basement and they were going to leave the exterior wall without insulation, but we asked enough about it the foreman had it done. The storage room has insulation on all walls and ceiling. I actually went up to the house with some tools, ladder, lights etc and was going to buy insulation and install it myself but was happily pleased to see it was done. The storage room is under the master bath, so it will make theater warmer also. I also included a photo of the garage interior. It’s cool in Washington, so we paid extra $$$ for the garage to be insulated also. Our one neighbor on the north side moved in a day ago. Our back yard will be less sloped than our neighbor, but that will be a later project. Lots of alder I want to get rid of. Trees grow like weeds in WA. Sheetrock installation should start soon, as they have it staged at different locations in the house.

Looking good. Exciting process - I remember building ours 16 years ago.
You getting insulation blown into the garage ceiling as well? I would if you can.

Got a nice chunk of cedar from our friend who owns a little cedar saw mill just outside of town. I'm going to cut it in half, glue, sand, and stain it to make a little plant stand/table top to put on top of this pecan tree stump.

My future nephew in law is way into dungeons and dragons. He painted a wall with white board erasable paint. I didn't know there was such a thing. He let's the little kids in the family have at it. But only on that wall. The he erases it and writes his d&d story every Saturday.

I was thinking it’s gonna take a LOT of masking and drop cloths, but the best way to learn you fucked up is to have to fix it. I was taught that very young.
I took a kitchen knife to part of the butcher block countertop that my dad custom made for the kitchen in our first house, when I was maybe 7? When it was discovered and I confessed to doing it, I got to hand sand it down to flat, reprofile the round over on the edges, and refinish it with mineral oil. I learned to appreciate the work that goes into a quality piece of furniture or cabinetry, and I learned that whittling is for sticks you find outside.

Wasn't sure if here or "what's your newest purchase" or whatever it's called. Whet with here cause I spent all day building it. "WIFE" wanted a sauna, she's been driving to the Y for a while. Did a lot of research, what scared me the most was numerous posts about people buy from Costco/Sams/Amazon for 2k (much less than what I paid)and 2-4 years later no parts available, no such company. So we went with the Clearlight Sanctuary 1 by Jacuzzi. Lifetime warranty, top of all the lists.

That last pic reminds me of sitting in ours the first time. It’s getting about time to start using it again!
We found a used one on CL a couple years ago for $600 and use the hell out of it in the winter to help offset the seasonal mood disorder.

We live in South Carolina, I told the wife to go stand in the shed , we don't need a sauna. That is my first time in 49 years ever in one. It's just like running HVAC repair calls on roofs in August.

Gave up on the pool remodeler and installed the new Pentair Intellibrite 5g myself. Remodel was quoted as 10 days and took 2 months. 4.5 months after the pebble was installed and the pool filled we still didn't have our light installed. They came out 4 times to install it and couldn't get it right. They should have replaced the niche behind the light and they didn't. That determines what light will fit. Our niche is probably 40 years old and is made by Anthony which has been out of business for a long time. They tried adapters, but the light would stick out from the pool wall. I spent probably 10 hours searching the internet and calling around to different places. I was able to find an adapter that looked like it would work so I ordered it. It arrived, but was missing the screws which are specific for it. Ordered a set of screws and expedited shipping. Called the remodeling company and told them I had everything here for them to come back out and try this. I was told the tech was out in CA for 2 weeks. I figured I waited long enough and it was time to just tackle it myself. Only took about an hour and a half, but I got it all to work. Sucks when people don't do their job.

I've been working hard talking on the Net while the wife has been goofing off staining the deck.
