    Skunks oh crap!!
My co-worker lives in my neighborhood and in the morning her husband put the dog outside, dog got sprayed so what did he do? He said dog got sprayed by a skunk as he let the dog in the house(idiot). Her house smelled for 2-3 weeks!

When she told me this I immediately went and got landscaping blocks and lined the interior of my fenced in backyard so they cannot simple wander under the fence. Because they have in the past.

Two years ago my neighbor and I had skunk issues, it was so bad I was counting how many skunks died on the road, at that point I was extremely temped to drop some skunk bait (they do sell it!)on the road away from my house and take my chances and let the cars take care of business, I did NOT do this BUT I was tempted!!

    cant stand skunks!!

Why don’t you get rid of the skunk?

Good idea, but I'm pretty sure that the little fuckers climb shit too. My back yard is surrounded by a block wall with a good footing, so that one I had didn't go under anything, it climbed in.

Skunks sometimes are rabies carriers. I’ve trapped and killed a couple dozen through the years.

I've got a couple of bats that have decided to live between the block and roof under my porch too. So, I've got a bunch of possible rabies shit going on.

I have tried every non-lethal way of doing so. I have a gate that it would crawl under that I buried two layers of bricks under so that it could not dig under. There's about a 2 inch gap at most from the bricks to the fence. I don't want to kill it because then I have to deal with a very pissed off girlfriend. I don't want to poison it because I don't want it dropping dead under my shed. The same skunk got into my neighbors yard and tore up her flower bed looking for grubs. And it scored big time there. Other problem is that neighbor is one of those 'anti-chemical all natural' people. So she just sprays everything with vinegar. So everything I do to get rid of it, she counteracts it with doing nothing. So my next step is to eliminate it's food source in my backyard.

Need to trap the skunk with a cage and then take it elsewhere. Otherwise it’s going to continue to be a problem. It will always come back to where it thinks there may be food.

I did not realize that they had any redeeming value. Interesting read. My comment was meant to be a bit sarcastic, but I don’t think I would let skunks rule my life.
The value of the skunk in a garden is pretty negligible when balanced against the damage done to plants and produce.
My primary reason for removal has been that they can carry disease and with their natural erratic behavior it’s not easy to tell if they might be afflicted or not.

Built the wife a little medicine cabinet during thanksgiving while I had Covid. Turned out pretty nice I think given my skill level.

Had a rough day Thursday so I came home and took it out on these fucking vines on my pergola. They look beautiful but they drop leaves year round. I’m tired of having to leaf blow everything damn day!

We bought this house last may from an elderly couple so I have plenty of ongoing projects. Paver stones are coming up soon and being replaced with turf

@Buckeye1977 tell me about it! The whole property is hardscape. But we got an amazing deal in our existing neighborhood. I’m going to palletize them and figure out what to do with them. I’m trying to eliminate the pink color scheme of the property it everywhere! I plan to build and outdoor grilling station and thinking of using the same rock to build a fireplace as well!

I have that website bookmarked. I definitely want to go the fireplace route but the wife wants a fire pit

Great job on the cabinet! That’s a lot of pavers. How about adding a pizza oven with the outdoor kitchen?

My home improvement today is my butt sitting in a lounge chair outside in the back working a cigar and adult beverage.
    Back looks great..
No pics unless you want to see a cigar smoker flopped in a chair holding onto a glass.

I'm attempting to build a small covered deck. Lowe's just called to reschedule delivery for the 2nd time since their flatbed is apparently broken.

Now scheduled for delivery on the 25th from the original 15th.

8x8 for the deck, 4 corners are 4x4x12 since they aren't supporting anything but a tin roof.

I decided since they weather is supposed to turn to crap Thursday to go pick stuff up since HD had everything in stock, plus was cheaper than Lowe's.

So here's the progress so far. The roof can wait for warmer weather and I forgot to take a before of the broken concrete steps that got covered up.

I didn't do a ledger to the house since I've never seen one in this area that didn't end up having issues after a few years.

Oh and @FirstGenVol talking about batteries the other day I did this all with 2 of the Dewalt 5ah.

Been a long week but got the Roomba setup and auto cat box setup, aka my two new “guns” since they were insanely expensive but buy once cry once I guess. Never thought I’d drop this much coin on a friggin cat box but I hate scooping it and wifey can’t while pregnant. Guest bed assembled, wifi smart dimmers and fan timer switches installed, and Rubbermaid Fastrack hung in garage w/tools hung. I know you all love pictures so....

Anyone dealt with something like this before? I was to enclose this area into a conditioned room from the garage into the dining room and make a mud room out of it. It’s simple enough to frame in the walls but I know having that concrete on the outside will bring a coldness to the floor and possibly into the rest of the house...any easy options besides jacking out the concrete outside the new room and pouring a new stem wall??

    Have an idea.
Saw a channel across where your wall will exist to dirt level.
Back fill the channel with insulating foam then top off with wood.
Channel should be 6 inches wide for insulation to work.
Should isolate that piece of concrete where people function from the outside concrete / elements.
