If I buy my father in law one of these for Christmas, he's going to open a Kwik E Mart.

I would think there'd be better ways to warm your wieners up there.

New front door installed today. It's too dark outside to get a good picture, but here's one from the inside. Hall bathroom gets painted tomorrow morning then finally we can start installing the new stuff. Hoping to have a completed bathroom by the weekend.

Nice day today so I planted a few Crepe Myrtles. One replaced a grapefruit tree that died this fall and I moved a peach tree that hadn't been doing good and replaced it with a Crepe.

Hall bathroom received paint today. Semi gloss white for the wall behind the vanity and wainscoting. Flat white on the ceilings and a grey on the surrounding walls. Hopefully new vanity and fixtures will start going in tomorrow. Glass guy is coming over in the morning to measure for doors. 20210106_141632.jpg 20210106_141607.jpg 20210106_141558.jpg 20210106_141533.jpg 20210106_141521.jpg

Finished cleaning up after pruning our pear tree
It might not sound like much but I probably have 8hrs in pruning the tree. It’s big and it’s old. OSU has taken cuttings to graft, so it is sort of a legacy tree. It had not been taken care of for a few years before we bought the place. The first year we were here it produced about 400lbs of pears. That winter I took about 10’ off the top. The next winter I took it down another 3’. It is finally starting to look civilized! I will try to remember to take some pictures tomorrow

Aren't you supposed to prune trees in the spring? Or is it different for fruit trees?

Got extremely frustrated last night trying to install these wifi dimmer switches. Can’t get them to work. Fucking wire colors aren’t consistent for one. Found the hot wire with multimeter and thought I had them plugged in correctly. The thing that is screwing this up is the other switch on each. Got it powered on but won’t turn on the lights. Help!!

Doesn't sound like it. I know my buddy worked for an orchard and they trimmed in November every year. They were apple trees. Vineyards around here trim in the spring though.

Depends on the plant and the climate. Here on the wet side of the PNW, all winter is basically like "spring" most anywhere else (except the south). The timing has to be before the buds are formed for new growth, but after the plant has produced whatever you are growing it for. Most fruit trees are pruned early/mid-winter here when they are dormant. Then, when they do start to wake in the spring they are putting the new energy into budding and fruit rather than wood growth. Lilacs need to be pruned pretty much right after the flowers drop, or they won't flower the next year (they form the buds for the next year shortly after they bloom). Some hydrangea need to be pruned in summer after they bloom, while others need pruned in spring before they bloom. Roses get cut back Jan/Feb.

Definitely prune fruit trees when dormant, no sap flowing. Late December, January, February, are ideal. If you have a warm March and they start to bud, you have missed your window of opportunity

Some more tiling happening today. Had to level out a large section where there must have been a leak in the slab which was trenched out to repair. They patched it with a membrane, but it was not really even. There was about a 1/2 difference in the concrete over about a 3ft span. The membrane was pulled off and it was leveled out before the new tile goes down.

Some trees, like Crepe Myrtles do most of their rooting in the winter months so it's okay to trim them also.

    Giving you a bump.

Wifi switches are a bitch for me. That required neutral wire always throws me off.
