Built a retaining wall on the side of the garage using rail road ties and anchored with 2 holes drilled through each tie then pounding rebar through

Couple weekends of work but 150' of fencing to let the dogs run free and give us some privacy from the road since we don't have a back yard.

    Flux capacitor!
Looks good! Just a quick suggestion. Most treated lumber and railroad ties don’t sustain as long as they used to years ago when exposed to standing water. Due to new environmental restrictions on the wood sealers. You can use tar to seal the railroad ties that are below sub grade to prevent them from rotting.

Damn!! I envy your tenacity, but you can certainly keep that work on your end. I’m too much of a puss to take that job on like you guys. I sure am glad you’re all still alive to tell the tale

Ha! I’m trying to do it on the cheap, and don’t mind the manual labor. Hopefully it’s finished by early September. We go on vacation the 3rd week of August for 7 or 8 days and that’s going to throw a wrench in things. Should be a nice break though :)

    Looks awesome man.
I assume you have more insulation going in @ the roof & gables?
if not you will have some serious condensation that will rain inside that beautiful new shop as soon as the weather turns.
think spray-foam or poly panels for that ceiling... batts, will get wet

Been planing a deck extension and stairs on our house since we bought it 3 years ago. Decided to hire out the concrete/retaining wall work as well as a local amish guy to frame the deck. I'll be installing all the composite decking and aluminum railing.

I designed a small retaining wall and had a crew excavate out the hillside so I'd have more patio space under the deck/stairs. We ran the stairs back towards the front of the house so they were kind of hidden and didn't impact the backyard much.

As of today I'm still finishing out some of the decking work. Will be moving onto the fascia this week and this upcoming weekend will get started on the railing. Going with an aluminum powdercoated vertical cable railing (replaces existing deck railing as well). Should look nice.

Thanks! I will be putting in steel short rib siding on the walls and ceiling then blow in insulation in the ceiling. It is a Morton building which spray foam voids their warranty otherwise I would of gone that route for the whole thing.

Still sneaking out and doing some work on the shed when I can. Trim and windows done. Just have to trim the door, hang it, put in the vents, seal it, and build the shelves inside.

I built and installed a stand for my shop furnace. I stole the furnace from our house when I installed a new one. Looks much safer and more industrial. I’m happy with the outcome. Freeeee shop furnace

Its raining but I can walk out and snap a pic of the front door if you want.

The paint is actually pretty impressive. The door gets hot afternoon sun until the sun sets. Also faces the road and west which is the prevailing wind here, so rain, snow, sleet and road grime all blow against it and it's still in great shape.
