Hell yea bout time! And yes, PPE is second nature. I went to move some drywall trash from one pile to another last night and I put on gloves. Later I thought about it and kinda laughed. But yea, having kids makes you look at thing differently. I had to evacuate a reactor area yesterday in the plant and the first thing I thought of was my wife n kids.
Glad the house is getting a little closer to being done!

Be careful out there. I’m retired (69) and my hearing is not good but get by without hearing aids most of the time. I took a snorkel lift training years ago, damn those can be dangerous. Luckily I did not have to do the snorkel for my job. My neighbor/ about a half mile away was blowing leaves off his roof the last day of October, and yea he fell off. He is 65 and getting close to retire, but he was airlifted to the level 1 trauma in Wa. Two and a half weeks later (after several operations)he is out of the hospital but needs speech and physical therapy. Bummer. He was an avid skier at one time.

I have spent a ton of times on lifts. I don’t take the risks I use to. I find it is once you let your guard down or get to comfortable is when stuff goes wrong. These stories are hard to hear but if I fall out a lift a 60ft I won’t have a speech problem I’ll have a life problem. Suck to hear.

Oh dang, didn't realize they were that long. I had similar looking tiles but they were only 18 inches long. I think that top middle tile is cracked. I thought it was the small gap between tiles. I'm sure they will use it as a cut piece. Never seen tile pieces that big. Excited to see your finished room!

Decided to hang a light fixture above the kitchen island we ordered a couple weeks ago. Was pretty straight forward and already had the switch wired when we built the house knowing we were gonna add it later.

Well, ran into a few delays. Drywall guy couldn't make it out on Wednesday, so he was able to come this morning. Cornerbead and first coat of tape/mud went on the kitchen walls and ceiling. He'll be back Monday to continue. Other delay is the tile installer now cannot come out for two weeks which put the hallway bathroom at a standstill. Plan is to keep things moving, so baseboards will start to come up along with some other smaller things.

I spent the day in a knuckle boom (and getting in and out of it dozens of times) helping a neighbor put a roof on his shop. Holy shit, I haven’t hoisted 24-foot sheets of sheet metal like that in a LONG time. In ~8 hours, we got about 3x done what he did the last two days on his own...he’s still got about half to go, but he’s got more help coming tomorrow.

And the first thing I put on when I got there was the harness.

How resilient is this stuff to kids dropping things and the tile not cracking? My only fear with tile and small kids which keeps pushing me to laminate

Finally, after the whole month of November digging up the yard, fixing sprinkler lines, replacing, relocating or removing sprinkler heads I ended the digging portion yesterday. I even had to pull up the square pavers because the roots had grown under them. Today was the first day of leveling and seeding the yard. Just the the small section today though.

    E0C82542-5866-408B-A08C-DC40F8D9A114.jpg

Here I got the dirt about an inch below the walkway, watered it, covered it in seed then put a thin cover of dirt on it. After that I put Scott’s turf builder on top and walked all over it to compress it.
