Got most of my kitchen floor done, just need to move a couple things back and grout the pantry. Then on to the dinning room floor.

You can cover a multitude of sins with mud and texture haha. It honestly isn’t that bad or hard. A few rules to follow and it’s kinda therapeutic. Just watch a few YouTube videos. Although people that do drywall for a living are amazingly fast!

Had to put a new crown on the chimney. I had a mason come look at it to price out the crown and some other repointing. That was back in the spring when they said they would get me pricing and come do it. They never got back to me, so I wanted to get this done before winter, so I did it myself. 20201017_110624.jpg 20201024_144509.jpg

Remodel Day 2: Finished removing what was left of the hall bath vanity and removed the toilet. Bathroom is completely gutted at this point. Started demo in the kitchen. My kitchen is a smaller galley style setup. Removed upper cabinets on one side. Other side has the uppers and loweres removed except for a pantry on the end. Plan is to cut the cabinet and keep the sink for use until next tuesday when the utility sink will be installed in the garage so that we are not without a sink too long. Some before/after shots of the kitchen. New cabinets were ordered about 3 weeks ago, but won't be ready til the end of this month.

You guys are all doing some cool stuff. I'm building a pretty simple desk. Of course, now that I'm close to being done I thought up so many ways I could have made it better. All good, I'm just learning and came up with this design myself.

Started with some 2x4's and a few 8x3/4 boards. Ripped the edges straight, ripped a bit of width off the 2x4s. Joined some boards for the sides and framed them with 2x4 legs which I stained thin white. Stained the side boards blue.

Tomorrow I need to join the boards for the top and stain that blue. I'm on the fence if I will round over the edges slightly on the top. Ergonomically it will be more comfortable but style says it might look odd. I have a top and bottom brace to run across the back as well, just haven't screwed it in yet.

Honestly like most things you get mostly what you pay for and it depends on how good you want it to be.
In general if you care about the sound quality it is smart to buy speakers that are in an enclosure of some kind as only then can the sound from them be uniform and balanced and somewhat predictable in a ceiling mount.
Otherwise an open back speaker relies on the space it is in for its sonic character and this can give widely varied quality especially from speaker to speaker in each room.

In the entry level I really like the Beale Street Audio speakers as they are all enclosed and have tuned bass ports in all of them too.

This Forum just ate much of my reply somehow and I dont have time right now to do it over, sorry and WTF????

Dang, i hate it when that happens.
I'll look into those beale street speakers, i'm a best bang-for-the-buck kinda guy, but dont mind paying a little more for a better experience. Have you had good luck with being able to get a good sound positioning with the in-ceiling speakers? Seems like it wouldn't be bad to have in ceiling for the rears, but in the wall for the L&R (i dont think that's how the builder set it up).
Right now i'm using a bose cube speakers and a yamaha reciever and it sounds ok, but we have a open concept house and the living room and kitchen are one large space, so the couch floats in the middle. I have our rear speakers on each side of the couch but not very far behind. It would be nice to be able to have the speakers in the ceiling and point towards the couch.

Remodel day 4. Not too much happening today. The kitchen pantry has been removed and part of the soffit has been opened up in order to raise the ceiling height.
