Mine is a Waste King and they don’t have that unjamming bolt unfortunately. If you look at their website on how to un-jam their units, it says to take a broomstick and pry on the impellers to try and get them to turn

The turntable is made of bare steel so it’s all rusted to hell and that’s why it keeps jamming. It’s at the point now that if I don’t use the disposal a couple times a week it jams. I don’t understand why they didn’t make it out of stainless to avoid this, it’s such a poor design...

    Flux capacitor!
Our garbage disposal was doing this a few years ago. I found out one of our kids dropped a small flat piece of metal into the disposal. It would spin around and sometimes it would jamb into the side outside walls of the disposal causing it to lock up. Try taking a flash light and check inside the disposal next time it jambs again. Hopefully this helps.

You know, I was certain this was the issue the first time it happened to me because I have a five year old running around here, but when I took the disposal off it was just all rusted. Nothing blocking or clogging any of the mechanisms unfortunately, that would’ve been an easier fix.

@JMB has me thinking it’s time to just replace it and move on...

I've got an Insinkerator Evolution 3/4hp that's over 10 years old. It was $200+ and the only time it's ever been jammed up is from a stray bottle cap.

I had that brand in my first house and in the 5 years I lived there I never had a lick of trouble. It wasn’t the evolution series, but still. I’m definitely going to go back to that brand.
    Thanks!

They don’t do that with this brand apparently.

It’s been a while since I’ve posted in here, but the retaining wall, staircase to the top of my property and concrete work are all finished. I’ll be building a carport, mainly for my camper, between the garage and retaining wall next. I’ve been toying with the idea of a deck on top. Anyone see this done before?

    Looks great!

How often does it rain where you're at? I ask because there's a lot of bare dirt on the hill that could end up on the other side of your retaining wall where your RV would be. I'm sure you've already thought of that though. Will you be planting something there or putting down chicken wire to prevent a mud/rock slide?

A few photos of my multitude of work on this Frank Lloyd Wright style prairie home we’ve owned for the last 18 years, a labor of love I guess, the amount of hours spent on this house I have no idea but keeps me busy It has 61 of these windows, each window has nine separate pieces of glazed in glass

Thanks! Honestly I haven’t decided on what to do with it. I sure don’t want any kind of grass, so it won’t need to be cut.

It’s basically hardened caliche. Even before the wall was put up and it was just a dirt wall, in three years it had barely started to erode. After one rain that stuff is hard as a rock, but it does eventually move with heavy rain, so I need to put something up there.

Repairing my microwave. It’s only a few years old, kinda disappointed with BOSCH. It’s a drawer type of design. I found the magnetron fried (red arrow). Waiting for the part now. 39211E2C-3E19-4EC4-9A70-1A08EAA981CC.jpg

Looks like the same mags I carry for Turbochef (the oven that toast you Subway in 20 secs). Just a bit of unasked for advice seeing that burnt antenna is to make sure the waveguide is clean, a new mag loves to short out on the burn mark of last mag or any small debris left from the shorted mag. Anything I say should be taken with the understanding that I do not work on ANY residential units, but I have changed 100's of mags since Turbochefs hit the market around 05

Thanks. I probed with a (clean) finger in the waveguide and did not feel any particles. Hopefully they all vaporized. Assembled it tonight With the new part and heated up a cup of water. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I borrowed the pressure washer from work for the weekend. Gave the truck and car a quick wash and blasted the undercarriage of each to get the summer's crap off before winter. I also gave the truck its fall treatment of Hydro 2 sealant. Then I washed the siding on the front of the house and the garage door.

I also got to take home a large box from work that was used to ship a major part for one of our projects. It's roughly 3x8 feet and 3 feet deep. The long sides and base are 2x6 boards, the ends were capped with OSB plywood. I pulled those off and I'm re-capping the ends with planks reclaimed from some sturdy pallets (also liberated from work). Sand it, stain it, fill it with dirt and boom. Free garden box.

The OSB will be repurposed as target backer for my PVC target stand.

Got home today to assess the damage from Hurricane Delta, and luckily the only damage were from the tarps coming off from Hurricane Laura 6 weeks ago. So no real new problems.
On another note, the tie down anchors that corkscrew into the ground held the trampoline down against 90+ MPH winds. Pretty happy with that decision now....especially since the last one took away my kids other outside play things lol.20201011_124154.jpg 20201011_124149.jpg 20201011_124143.jpg
