This is up next for my treadmill runs when the weather turns. Shows that require undivided attention work well for that.

I took some more updated photos this weekend of my Equestrian project. Horses are going in the facility tomorrow. It’s very exciting to see things coming together! I have 12x saddles mounted to a rotating tack wall. I had whiskey barrels cut to use as sinks in the two bathrooms. I had 2” Doug Fur mounted over the front of the cinderblock walls to dress them up. It’s been a fun project but its about to be completed. EDC4BFC5-40CB-45A2-A881-2CC3ECBAB01D.jpg 1704748C-D197-4D96-8231-FC80FCABDFBE.jpg DDFEEC27-F85E-4D33-A905-BD7BE20CCE26.jpg

Picked up lots of new and exciting plants. No back breaking this time.

At home depot I picked up a kiwi corydorysomething. Its got nice variegated green leaves with pink borders. Also grabbed a few Maui red ixora, very cool flowering plants.

    20200829_171023.jpg

Stopped at a nursery and got a strange canna. Also got what might be a Peruvuan lilly, the nursery wasn't sure. Here is the canna
    20200830_200911.jpg

Then came the craigslist adventures. Went to some weird rebellious guys place and picked up 4 pots with 3 different kinds of canna and he threw in a spider plant.

Then went to a cool hippie girls house and bout 5 kinds of plumeria, a smuggled elephants ear, a ginger and something called a tubrose. Only took a pic of the pink plumeria, but also got 2 purples and a red from her.
    20200830_184753.jpg

Gonna plant them all tomorrow after work.

Today I ended up working in my porch project, almost done. Now I'm off to build the stairs and widen the entry. I need some cool flowers like the previous post

I believe there's a spray you can use to kill the dry rot, then you fill it in with bondo and paint over it. My brother did this on some hot tub siding

That will be nice! If you don’t mind me making a suggesting, install a small French drain or scuppers near the end of the half walls. This will let any trapped water out when it rains.

Funny, I was contacting the engineer and he had this fixed already. Up 4” to allow for snow and rain drainage. Great suggestion. Always a keen eye for future issues. Thank you for always offering assistance and good ideas.

No worries. I like to brain storm and think of possible issues for clients and friends. Have you already considered the location of your downspouts off the new roof? I would cantilever your roof overhang at least 2’ from the outside of your corner post. This will solve a few potential concerns. This will give you more shade over your porch area pending where the sun faces, more cover over the steps and allow your downspouts off the new roof to be left outside of the 4’ high partition walls. I would consider using rain chains and having them discharge into a planter with decorative landscaping rocks to add a nice focal detail. If you like the timber post details you currently have you could make the gable end of the new roof addition with a King or Queen Timber truss design.
