That is a Uniden R7. One of the best units ever made (I have same one and love it). It has GPS built-in so it auto-learns the false alarms and locks them out. It gets more silent the longer you own it. I've had mine several years and now the only time it alerts is Ka band and it is a cop. It has incredible range and has saved me countless times.

If you go cheap on a detector, it is going to be garbage. Uniden R7 and R8 or Valentine One are pretty much the gold standards.

Rough Country wheel liners, mud flaps, TufSkinz gloss black tailgate lettering, JDMCAR console organizer. That’s it.
Added TufSkinz tailgate lettering in Gloss Black. Debated between matte & gloss. Went with gloss since the “rear spoiler” is also glossy. I like the look.

also added JDMCAR center console organizer. Tired of stuff floating around aimlessly there. No more fighting. I already had that USB blue light plugin. That goes off when the truck is turned off. Really nice at night.

6-8” of snow forecast tonight & tomorrow. Driving in snow is fun!

I'm sure it depends on the detector you have but most of the higher-end units have auto-GPS lockouts so if you're passing the same speed signs or grocery store doors a lot, it will remember and silence it the next time you pass. On the Uniden I have, you can also manually add a GPS lockout by just hitting the mute button twice.

For the false alerts from other cars (e.g. Blind spot monitors), you can go into settings and manually add frequency ranges to block out (k-blocks). There's a lot of online resources (e.g. Vortexradar, RDforum) that have suggested k-block settings for common BSM frequencies. I've only had this a few weeks but it's been surprisingly quiet yet reliable for Ka alerts. There's also some 3rd party firmware on RDForum (Mitheru) that's supposed to make it even better which I might try out soon.

I just use waze. Doesn't really work on desolate roads, but I've never gotten a speeding ticket in 28yrs of driving...most of which were before waze

Waze is great, just as long as others use it and make an effort to share locations of police, hazards, accidents, etc. People use it quite a bit here to be reliable but may not in others. I trust it more than radars. Can't stand the noise they make. lol

I've tried to use Waze but the Android Auto interface sucks and it only allows like 1/3 screen view in my truck.

I wanted a small light in the center console bin since there isn't one. I ordered a five pack (in blue for the same accent color as the seats/interior) from Amazon for $6. For me, I will hardly (or at all) use the USB-A plug, so this works well. The other colors might be brighter (from the reviews), but this ice-blue is just about right.

    Cheers.

Correct. When the car is started, the light comes on and stays on. The only way to turn it off is to remove it, or turn the truck off.

Since it’s a five-pack, I’m “testing” how long it works until I have to replace it.

I would think there are similar lights with a switch available, but this fits my needs.

I find Google Maps or Waze alert for Police is more useful than the radar detector.

Haha, that was my thought as well. Where can I use the others? I’m pretty sure (too lazy to go look) the rear has both a USB-A & USB-C port, so one could be used there.

*Edit: when I cleaned off the truck from the massive 1.5” of snow we had, I looked in the back seat. There are both a USB-A & C back there.

    Cheers

Thanks guys. It does feel amazing. I wasn't really planning on it so soon as I had about 5 years left as well making my payments. I decided to sell some stocks to make up a big chunk and just went for it. Full send.
