I too have been wrenching since the early 70's. Not a big CAI fan for general use. Had them on sports cars but this was a 1st for a truck. A year or so later tunes became available for that slug powertrain which I understand fixed that issue. I know I was ready to trade that truck in if I couldn't resolve that throttle lag. Fortunately they didn't force those 3.5 engines in the Tundra. If they did most would now be in an F150 forum.

Installed the 2.5” Ironman 4x4 Foam Cell Pro a couple weeks ago, absolutely loving it! Not a bad install either, definitely worth doing it and saving a bunch of money

Saw that video, trucks looks great! Nice work! Crazy you had to cut the rear shock to get it out. But you might be able to send it back to Fox for a rebuild and they should be able to replace that. Will cost some money but not nearly as much as what those shocks cost new

With buying a TRD Pro, why spend the extra money on the Pro and then change the suspension? Is it better buy the Pro and then upgrade the suspension, as a opposed to buying a TRD Off-road (for the rear locker) and then upgrading the suspension? Or...would it be best to buy a 4x4 Tundra without TRD package, and then upgrade the suspension and an after market rear locker?

This question is for anyone. I am genuinely asking and want to learn.

Today I put the Predators on. I found it oddly very easy on my own despite many saying it’s a 2-man job. I’m not very mechanically inclined either. I’m done bragging…

Thanks man, I appreciate it! I was so frustrated with them rears it wasn’t even funny. I mean, looking back, it’s a little funny, but at the time I wanted to light them on fire. Lmao.

hey Dane! So if you know you’re going to lift it, you are better off not getting the Pro. Unless of course you just want the other “Pro” styling. Which honestly, in my opinion, isn’t worth it just for some extra badging and small stuff like that. But to each their own. When I first got the Pro, I wasn’t sure I was going to lift it. Was on the fence until just recently. I also got the Pro because it’s my 4th Tundra, and one of the only trims I haven’t owned yet. I had a 2020 Platinum, great truck, but didn’t want another of the same trim. At the end of the day if you’re not interested in the styling of the Pro and you know you’re gonna swap the suspension right from the start, it would make no sense to get a Pro. Hope that helps!

check out Nitto Recon Grapplers 295/70R18 in the 116S size. They weigh only 52.49 lbs. I have the previous version of this tire in this size. They are amazing. My MPG in the city is not affected in the slightest. On the Highway, I lost 1 mpg from stock. My truck has a 3" lift front, and 2" lift rear. My MPG dropped a total of 1 MPG on the highway, only. I realize I have a 2nd gen, but the MPG hit would be similar.

    Extremely helpful response!
I have heard all sorts of answers, but since you are a Pro owner, I hoped you'd reply. That all makes sense. I saw your video on YouTube and then when you posted your truck in the forum I recognized it immediately. Great looking truck!

The lifted look you have is exactly what I am wanting to do. What 2" coil overs did you use? did you need to do anything besides swapping out the stock coil overs? Is a diff drop needed for the 2"...or UCAs?

What tire size are you running?

Did you have to buy the red axles from a dealership for the Westcott TRD lift to work?

Added a 2” Front and rear lift to my 2023 Limited Hybrid Crew with rear load leveling. Now on 34” Nitto Recon Grapplers. Used the Readylift SST 2” lift for the rear, but replaced the shock rather than using shock extensions with an N3 from Rough Country. Added the N3 strut from Rough Country up front. Everything is an even 2” higher and has about 1” of rake. Rides same as factory as far as I can tell. I think it’s a nice proportion for these trucks.

    I went up to a 35” 12.5 r18. No lift no rub.

kumho at52. Great bang for the buck, and very nice tire. They are underrated. I would compare them to Toyo for sure. Quiet, great in all weather, and $1300 installed. Pics don’t do it justice!

Have a bumper and lights being installed. And she looks bad a$$!! Also have viair compressor bad tank under left rear passenger floor for when I get loaded down. Have an extra bumper $1800! Will meet half way will to travel up to 250 miles from Sioux Falls, SD.

I am putting my new front seat spacer design back on the shelf for a while. Haven't had any luck getting the dimensions I need to complete my prototypes. For now just continue to pay double my planned price for the "jackers" and I will focus on another project.

Second oil and filter change today at 5601 miles. (First was a few ticks over 1K)

First one was pre-recall notice, so I wasn't looking at anything too closely.
    Dump, change, carry on.
Used gen-yoo-wine Toyo (Exxon Mobil) oil and Toyo filter.
Other than the typical realization that 0W-20 oil has the consistency of water, nothing to report.

    This time around I:
    1) had the drain stream going through coffee filters before going into the pan
    2) cut the oil filter and pulled the filter media completely out, spread out and inspected in between all the pleats
    3) pulled a sample for Blackstone
    4) refilled with Pennzoil Ultra Platinum (and another Toyo filter)

Results from numbers 1 and 2:
Zero visible glitter, absolutely nothing caught in the coffee filters.
A little more to be seen in the filter pleats: you'll have to zoom in
(Knife blade on right pointing to shiny speck)
    biggest chunk.jpg

This was the next "biggest" chunk I could find (allen key pointing)
    not as big.jpg

    And finally, micro-mini non-forbidden glitter:
    tiny sparkles.jpg

So.... I'm no Lake Speed tribologist, but based on visuals alone, I'd say my engine is healthy.
As far as stuff on the microscopic level, I'll leave that to Blackstone and report in that thread when I have results.

    Yep.
Coffee filters sitting in the drain container over the drain holes. Held the sample jar right in the oil stream before it got there.

I noticed how cheap the floor mats are, at least in the 1794 edition…

6,500 miles and its going to have a hole before it hits 10k, sorry, thats just pathetic. IMG_2530.jpg

I see why. The quality of those floor mats is worse than junk. I drive a lot for work, 1.5 to 2hr trips, and i typically kick my shoes off and just have socks on my feet, makes longer trips so much more comfortable.

Had Katzkin “OEM Match” leather installed.

Also wrapped some trim pieces in VViViD Stealth Medium black camo vinyl. The shift console and door inserts came precut from a company called The OCD Plug. The rest I wrapped with a roll of the same vinyl. The climate control area and the area around the parking break are actually matte black overlays that I bought off of Amazon and wrapped before installing. The dash center part was removed and wrapped, then reinstalled.

Other interior bits are AJT Designs matte black door handle covers and a matte black steering wheel emblem overlay from a store on Etsy. Also, Husky Liner floor mats with TRD Offroad custom emblems, the emblems also came from a store on Etsy.

I’m really happy with how the interior came out. I wasn’t really a fan of the silver, but I think the black and gray camo pattern ties the black and silver interior together really well.

I did pull the sound bags but haven’t driven the truck since . I’ll ask my guy driving the truck in the morning if he’s noticed anything different . He was out of town when I pulled them so he has no idea lol . I’m curious too !!
