My headlights we're starting to look less than acceptable so I spent a little time today to give them a good polish.

I used Chemical Guys polishing kit and some 3" foam pads on my Porter Cable DA. Sanded with 2500 and 3500 then 3 polishing steps. Finished off with Meguires Keep Clear Headlight Coating. Supposed to last a year so we'll how that works out.

Overall, I'm very pleased with the results.

Getting there. Need to break the gears in then I need to pull the coilovers and have them rebuilt. I will definitely let you know when I’m ready.

Thank you for the kind words.

Added some storage to the bed of the truck :)

Was going to do the DIY Ammo Can Storage, but needed more room. Might add one to the other side for extra storage

Those look a lot like my cans. I still want to reinforce the bottom somehow so they don't wobble, thinking I might cut a sheet of thin plywood to fit the bottom so the box doesn't flex.

Mine has minimal flex with 4 bolts going through the bed. Large fender washers might be the ticket to eliminating the flex.

Are these lights legal in VA? I put in aftermarket LED headlights and they wouldn’t pass it at inspection.

Washers I used were pretty decent size, maybe 2.5" across but I used 3 bolts in a triangular style.

I bought after market headlights that are O.K. they're the black ones from ebay for like 60 bucks or whatever. I still have my stock ones. There is a great YouTube video on how to keep them clear after you restore them and what you do is get a clear coat spray paint that is UV resistant. Coolest idea I've seen. Going to do that with my stock headlights and probably put them back on lol.

Any Virginia members know if you can install aftermarket headlights on your truck? Did a few years back and it wouldn't pass inspection. Would love some brighter light in front of me but don't want to waste the money to have them pulled next years inspection time.

Hey Punisher, the Meguires Keep Clear stuff that I used is essentially just what you mentioned, a UV clear coat protection that sprays and dries just like paint except that it's made especially for headlights.

I like the idea and execution, just need time now to see how it holds up. I'll be sure to report back a year from now

Well technically it was 10 days ago, but…

After a long night of suspension-wrestling, and with a high level personal job-we’ll-done. I yanked out the junk 3” spacer lift I inherited with the truck. What a pain in the @$$!

At the same time, I upgraded to Bilstein 6112s up front and 5160s in the rear. Wow! What an improvement. Even at the 2.5” setting upfront, and with the inherited 2” block in the back it rides like a dream. Super smooth on and off road, especially in washboard. A HUGE upgrade over a spacer lift on stock springs/shocks.

I had 5100s all around on my ‘97 Tacoma. These 6112/5160s feel like a more solid shock. If you’re on The fence about the Bistein 6112s…just do it. They’re well worth the extra coin over stock, and so far seem like worthy upgrade over the 5100s.

just rewired the whole truck for new speakers with proper 14AWG speaker wires instead of crappy stock wires. front and rear/ left and right. feeding Kenwood amp, Kappa 6x9 and 6.5 + Pioneer shallow 12" sub and Kenwood HU. Need to fine tune it/equalize it properly :) should be good.

Had the Transferflow 46-Gal fuel tank installed. $1400 (delivered) tank, $500 install, plus sales tax. Had to do it. The new trailer has me getting mpgs in the 6's--regardless of conditions--so it was a no-brainer. First fill-up was $147.17 @ $3.29/gal.

If anyone is considering this, they are no longer listing the tank on their site. I called them about it and they told me that they're not going to be carrying it any more. I was able to get one from existing stock, so you may want to contact them soon to see what's available.
