What have you done to your 2nd gen Tundra today?

I had to go with the smaller letters due to using a T-Rex grill. Its not completely flat from edge to edge and I did not want to have any over hang. Thanks for the compliment.

Got 420 lbs of sandbags secured over the axle so I'm ready for slick roads. I despise everything about winter, but like it or not, I prefer staying in my lane versus eating a ditch-

 

Ha, you dont like it huh? Winter is my favorite. What state do you live in? I guess I can see how it would suck being buried in snow for months.

 

Is that a good amount of weight or a little too much?

 

l aM Traveling to upper Michigan Soon and wanted the right amount of weight but not to much to kill gas mileage.

 

400 pounds would be like a couple guys riding in the bed. It wouldn't hurt your gas mileage and probably be a good amount.

I'm in the high desert now so fortunately my roads aren't slick all winter any more (spent 3+ decades up north), but still annoying when it does come. I understand the need for winter, but sure don't care for dealing with it.

This is the same amount I ran last winter in this truck and it was perfect. I have the OR suspension so other setups may vary. I used to carry 630 lbs (9-70lb bags) in my old '69 Ford, but its suspension was much stiffer than what I have now and that was living in the ID mountains with deep snow all winter.

My fuel economy does suffer a bit (12-13 vs 14-15), but it's hard to say how much is due to added weight and how much to crappy winter-blend gas.

Edit: Forgot to add that my tonneau weighs around 125 lbs. Between that, the sandbags, my gear box, the gas can, plus the crap stored under the rear seat, I'm actually hauling in the neighborhood of 640-ish total.

 

Installed leveling kit, derped center caps and removed mud flaps.

 

thank you, think I'm going to go another inch up front then do the plus 3 shackles in the rear with bigger tires and I'll be happy then.

 

How do you plan on adding the extra inch up front?

 

I have the Proryde adjustable leveling kit upfront and its all the way cranked down right now so I can get 2 more inches if I want.

 

nice, I will probably just put the shackles on first then adjust the front accordingly.

Added a cross bin under the tonneau so I can finally ditch the goofy rubbermaid tub I've been toting my crap in for years. Easier gear access and more space to boot-

Installed my G-TEK FAB SABM kit and drop in k&n filter.

 

What's your thoughts Virgil12, I have seen about 1-2 mpg better since I installed mine. My next install will be BA Muffler, which should give me better mpg. We shall see.

 

Have only drove it about a mile. So no opinions yet. We will see what it brings.
