I've had my CEL light up more times and longer this year than the previous 17 years, LOL.

I haven't participated in this thread in a while. Just this year, I have replaced 4 transmission solenoids, replaced my rear passenger side caliper, again. Changed my oil, changed my negative terminal and replaced my aftermarket crankshaft position sensor with the original OEM one. The gasket failed on this sensor as half of it was hanging down a bit and was slightly loose in its shaft. So far, no more codes, with the exception of C1201, but doesn't light up a CEL.
Has returned to daily driver while I replace parts on my SC.

I had an issue with one of my headlights side markers not working. eBay seller sent me an entire new assembly. If they don't make it right send them back. They look awesome.

My son bought an 07 Tundra in late Feb and got in an accident only 6 weeks later in Mid April :eek2:. Damage was purely cosmetic..another truck clipped his rear drivers side and crumpled the back corner, busted the tail-light, and messed up the bumper/exhaust pipe. Went the insurance route only to be told the repairs were going to be $7,500 and the truck was totaled. I told them that was insane, took the $3,400 "salvage" amount and picked the truck back up. At the repair shop the guy that brought the truck back to me said "I wouldn't have let them take it either...this is too good of a truck." I then set out to find the replacement parts I needed.

    - Color Matched Truck Bed: $500 (had some dings and scratches...but it was $500!!!)
    - New Bumper: $195 (the repair shop was smoking crack and asking $1,400 for this chrome plated peice of steel)
    - New tail-light: $60
    - Flex Exhaust Pipe, U-Joint, Exhaust Putty: $40 (pipe got bent on the end, resulting in a pinched spot. Cut it away and put the flex pipe in it's place. Shop was quoting $900 to replace the entire muffler/exhaust system)
    - Few other misc. items: $50

So, about $850 and 1 month to the day since the accident, we were back on the road again.

Our latest project was putting a slim sub-woofer under the seat and tying into the factory sound system (non-jbl). I bough a harness kit with a line out converter to make the job easier, and wired in some 85hz bass blockers behind the dash as well as I didn't want to be tearing into the 4 doors. When getting things dialed in/testing it out I noticed the front passenger door speaker kept cutting in and out. After some troubleshooting to make sure our recent updates weren't the problem, we found ourselves tearing into that door anyway! Turns out the little plastic harness that plugs into the speaker is the problem, as seating it halfway the speaker works fine, but as soon as you seat it all the way the sound cuts in and out, distorts, etc. My initial thought was to run a whole new wire but that sounds like a pain in the butt so I'm going to first try lopping off the connector and crimping some blade connectors on there then connecting directly to the speaker.

Here's the "$7,500" in damages to the truck...

Where are my manners...here's the restored truck...the tailgate did get some slight damage but we weren't really worried about that...and the new bed had stickers on it which my son thought was cool :) The little edge plastic peices on the bumper were never there when we bought it so I didn't replace what wasn't there :p.

Oh! I also used some of that insurance money to get the windshield replaced..not part of the accident but it was needed as it had multiple cracks along the top...

Well, I asked my buddy if they were too much to let me know. He said that they actually helped him, his rack blocks out the light from coming in from the back. We almost got stuck because he slowed down for a split second, any longer and we would have been screwed. It was unexpected to come across that patch because the entire trail was dry.

One more video of the truck in action after the wreck...my son was so excited to use it to help us pull a tallow tree that had fallen into another tree after a storm. The tree fell because a few years earlier my wife said she wanted that tree gone so he took that as permission to go outside and start chopping on it with an axe. He was halfway through when I told him the tree was going to fall into the neighbors backyard/fence! Well..a recent high wind storm caused it to break at that point . I carefully cut it with my chainsaw to release from the trunk and he came in to get it out of the other tree...

eBay, Bruner Toyota in TX. They had it listed for around $250 or more, I can’t remember now and I had it in my cart. Then one day it dropped to $169 plus tax, so I jumped on it.

A few months ago I installed a cheapo nilight bar in my grill. Lights up pretty decent. Thinking of finding some yellow/amber turn signal bulbs to match. But not sure on legality....

Trying to replace the roof molding. Does anyone know how to attach these clips for the molding. They were installed before the truck was painted which makes me think they were glued.

I popped my old ones off thing new ones would be an excellent idea. They look like they should be adhesive, but they are definitely not sticky.
    PXL_20240607_030934130.jpg

Here is the new trim. I think the Right one is old stock and the left one is newer with more adhesive.

    No problem.

It's a SDHQ hidden winch mount. Harbor Freight Apex winch w/ ADD fairlead.

Followed their(SDHQ) instructions initially for installation of the fairlead on the lower bumper valance, but because you use a template(of your fairlead) to cut out the valance to fit around a fairlead of your choosing when reinstalling the bumper etc.. it will not ever fit around the fairlead in a cosmetically appealing manner IMO. The gaps/getting template exactly in the correct position etc..didn't look good, looked like someone just cut a shape out and the fairlead sticks through it. There is a YouTube video of a guy doing exactly that and you can see his results as well, same outcome.

So, I had to buy a second valance piece.

Then I used extended fairlead bolts(1/2" SS) and installed them first which they extended out 4-5 inches can't remember the size. Meaning the back of the bolt is on the inside of the winch mount with threads facing away from the truck and used a lock washer and nut securing(locktite/monkey tight) it to the winch mount, needed about 3/4"( the 1 lock nut +1 nut = the 3/4") between the mount and the valance once installed so it would not suck in/warp when tightening the fairlead against the valance.

Marked where the fairlead bolts hit the valance when installed with the bumper. Made a 3/4" whole for each fairlead bolt, which gave enough wiggle room to get the bumper centered once fitted up and was covered by the fairlead. Cut oval shaped hole for the winch line and smoothed edges on the lower valance also hidden by the fairlead.

After getting the bumper back on I installed the fairlead itself marking on the extended threads where it sat flush with the fairlead. Removed the fairlead and cut off the excess thread and reinstalled the fairlead.

Now it sits as you see it in the pic. On top of the installation instructions I also had to cut a few fins off the steering pump cooler, which was not expected, but was unavoidable as it was hitting the winch mount at its lowest position.

Other than those few workarounds it is well made, fit good and the bumper mounted back up to the winch mount without issue. Hope I explained it well enough.

What is the purpose of these, esthetics? I think both of mine are missing by now and I'm not bothered enough, or don't notice it to care to replace them.

Is the reverse light build into it or can you install which ever you want? Also How bright is the reverse if it is built into the tail light?

Reverse lights are led and brighter than stock, but not as bright as aftermarket pods would likely be.

Do you think a 2nd gen dc has more backseat room than a 17’ GM double cab?

Can't answer your question directly, but I can say the 2nd Gen and up dbl cab has way less backseat room than a 1st Gen dbl cab.
