^^^ couldn't agree more. Also contacted the eBay seller about the one amber light on passenger side not working and they already shipped me a new housing. Next up is the pro grill to completely transform the front end. Then take out my drop in bed liner and roll out a durabek bed coating. I don't think I've ever done so many mods to any car or truck I've ever owned. My wife calls it my mid life management truck. I'm slowly turning into a mod-aholic.

Mid-June, I had inquired with a dealership about availability of 38 gallon tanks. I was told they were on a nationwide backorder with no end in sight. I left it at that.

Fast forward to last week, I found one of the local Toyota dealerships was offering 15% off for a back to school deal for online orders. I figured I'd take advantage of the discount, put an order in for the tank and parts, thinking I'd get it in a few months. As I figured they would, parts department got ahold of me the next day letting me know there was only ONE tank in the country, and a wait list of 332 people!

As luck would have it, I was dealing with a tenacious parts guy who called me back later in the day, to tell me he snagged the tank from a dealer near Seattle (I'm outside Denver) and it would be here in 3-5 days! I'll be damned...

Big cup for a thirsty truck! There goes my weekend :)

Gang, why didn't you snap a photo with something next to it, to see the sheer scale of that 38gallon monster! It looks like a child's pool inflatable in the pic.

Assuming 30hallons useful capacity, that's 660miles of cruise! I could drive from SoCar to Fla on one fillip, that's silly:broccoli:

Stevinson Toyota (west) Reese is the man! He's helped me several times procuring parts for my MR2.

This is probably the minimum (screenshot of my receipt). I left off the skid plate because I had bought the wrong one, which didn't matter, because I also had the wrong straps to mount it.
    Tank Parts List.jpg

Looking at a questionably small skid plate resting on a rather large box of gas tank...
    Skid Too Small.jpg

I found this thread about the swap and purchased most of the part numbers listed in the first post... turns out they weren't entirely correct. If you're wanting the skid plate, that part number is 77606-0C060. The corresponding straps are 77601-0C090, 77601-0C100, & 77602-0C120.

The big fuel tank would be awesome for trips. I have to stop and fill mine up ridiculously often when we take our trailer on adventures. 9-10mpg makes the gas go fast.

as far as switches are concerned you can custom your own on CH4x4.com
It’ll be the Toyota Small switch, of which you can put whatever logo and verbiage. It’s like $28 or something like that. I’ve bought a few last year for some auxiliary lighting.

Did a bmc which solved all the rubbing I noticed on road. On full lock, the tires touch the coil over reservoir so I need to figure that out. I’m also running spacers. During this last trip, off camber sections proved I’m still rubbing somewhere in full flex situations, but not 100% where. Needless to say, I’m not sure more cutting will solve the issue so I’m not sure what’s next at this point. 35’s didn’t rub a single bit…

Yeah I figured you had spacers since the RW wheels don’t normally stick out that far, I’m running 35s but tires stick out a good 1-1.5” outside fender so I’m gonna go down to a 1” spacer to either stop the rub or minimize it

as far as you, you might have to hammer the pinch weld down and smooth it out? Unless you think it’s rubbing on the fender itself?

Gang, sorry for littering this thread with my posts, but I didn't want to start new thread for coolant change, but it's a big deal to me, being mechanically impotent.

Anyways, passenger side block plug yielded like half a cup of coolant. Perhaps it wasn't even worth it. But what the hey! It's done!

Time to fill her back up.

    Here's coolant amounts drained.

    20230817_143724.jpg

    Left bucket-driver block plug [][][] right bucket-radiator.

It's possible that driver block got more coolant out because I was doing it simultaneously, so it probably got sucked towards block more, hence more fluid in the bucket.

Edit: to easier see how much total coolant. Btw, I filled 3 jugs back in and it was **just** enough!!

Something I wish I would have done is drain the coolant at the transmission when I did mine.

I installed a hypertech speedometer calibrator this afternoon. I'm kicking myself for not doing it sooner, as it was a simple 30 minute job. Speedo is dead on now with my 37's

Make sure you properly bleed the air out of the system, don’t want an air pocket in there causing it to overheat

3 gallons went in, that's 11.34L. Owners manual says 4.6L w/ tow 13.2L. I haven't drained heater, so that must be the capacity difference? I kept an eye on the temps and was driving around about 20 mins with heater on full hot and temp gauge seemed to be normal? Also, no gurgle noises..

This is what expansion tank had after the drive:
