Last night I was playing with OBD Fusion to try and get TPMS data which was to no avail.

However, I could read this which I took when the steering wheel was dead nuts level.
    Screenshot_20230322-180334.jpg

Any thoughts on why truck is not complaining about this? The only way I can imagine it got this far off would be if someone decoupled the shaft at the rack or for some reason had the steering column out.

When at Zero, we have this...

And ya, you can look right at the evap thermistor!

it is not fun. there are 4 screws behind the cup holder, which can be removed by pushing the plastic bump stops on the sides of the slide out portion. that will loosen the cup holder trim. to get to those blanks you will need to remove the trim above that too, which requires starting at the drivers door, removing bottom panel below steering wheel, then center panel ashtray and trim piece. Then you can unscrew and pop out that panel you are after. there are hidden screws that hold stuff in place.

    I like them.
Yep, the led lights light up either orange OR white depending on how you wire them.

If you do the ground and use the pretty descent fuse box tap they include AND connect a little wire from 1 side to the other then they are orange. If you don’t, they are white. I actually almost left it white but then went orange. Either looks nice imo.

it’s a great upgrade for the money bc it makes you forget your truck is getting old lol

Btw I had the led bulbs turned 180* the wrong way and they work well now. They are not the most amazing in the world but good enough and the right price point for my budget.

Installed my Scangauge mount made by Spiker Engineering that I bought from Opt Off-road. Also picked the truck up from the gear shop since we don’t mess with gears at the shop I work at, pinion bearing fixed and truck runs like a top

Replaced my front wheel bearing hubs. Easy as cake. Its been quite a while since I've had to do any repairs on my truck that were this involved. Man I love my CM!

@Tundrex81 what brand did you go with? Last I looked out of curiosity there wasn't a good complete hub + bearing assembly replacement. But I'm used to using Timken and SKF bearings.

Scraped my garage wall. I have to make a very tight and narrow turn to pull into the garage and I decided to take a slightly different approach. I scrape the corner about once per year, but each time I do, it reminds me to diligently check my side mirrors.

GooGone Latex Paint Cleanup works great. It still needed about 30 minutes of elbow grease but it was impossible without the chemicals.

    Drove it! haha.

I got back from 3 weeks in Vegas this morning at 3am and she fired right up. It was a relief! 200 miles on the new engine so far.

Don’t snip on both ends of the cotter pin, snip on the side to the truck, the other side wraps up and over the end of the threaded stud

Mine is the same way. I discovered it when I replaced my rack bushings and needed to check 0° and not +/- 360° before I reconnected the shaft.

    Edit:

The sensor is in the column itself, not the rack.

The only "fix" I could contrive was to disconnect both the wheel and the rack, line it up to 0°, then reassemble, then get an alignment. Chances are good it still wouldn't be dead 0° unless the spline indexing was dead on.

I decided that it must be normal and left it alone.

Thanks for the reply. I know steering gears and R&Ps need to be centered as the gears are cut to have zero to near zero lash when centered so they drive well and I'm pretty sure my rack is centered.

It's had two prior owners, the last guy who is a co-worker and he grabbed it with 25k mi and made no mention of rack replacement.

I suppose someone could have had the dash apart to create this if they dropped the column? wtf knows...

As stated, the time I see it being an issue is when it matters and your skidding down the road sideways... weeeeeeeeee

I finally got rid of the annoying spare tire brackets on Sunday. I looked through multiple threads related to fitting a larger tire under the truck be in the forum, and it sounded like it is a pain in the ass experience, but it wasn’t bad at all. I spent about an hour drilling through the pivots and they come off pretty easily. I considered sawing the brackets off, but I wasn’t too comfortable with the idea of using the in such a limited space.

If I remember correctly the vertical adjustment is the lower dial

I recall not getting much if any horizontal adjustments from the other dial

Lower dial is vertical, a screwdriver can stick through that channel to let you turn the bolt if you can’t get a wrench or ratchet on it… I don’t think there is any horizontal adjustment if I remember right

Both adjusters are present, the horizontal doesn't do much though. The screwdriver tip is key. Lots of people think you have to take the headlight out to access the vertical adjustment, but you can do it with them installed with a long screwdriver.

Dreaded CEL came on yesterday afternoon throwing P0031 code. I think I have narrowed it down to the A/F sensor (Oxygen sensor), specifically the heating element of it, on the drivers side before the cat. Looks like an extremely straight forward swap for a new one. Anyone got any experience or done one of these? I'm thinking of going with the denso sensor instead of getting it from the stealership and saving $100.

Denso is good, you’ll need the O2 sensor tool, you can rent it from Autozone or O’Reillys, larger socket with a split in it for the wires on top of the sensor
