Not very hard at all really. I dropped the spare for some space underneath. Picked roughly where I thought it would work and traced the bracket that I pulled off. The purple is about where there is thin sheet metal behind the plastic. I started with a 2 in hole saw for the 7-pin half of the plug (which fits perfectly) and then used a combination of a Dremel and a grinder to remove the plastic and the last little corner of metal above the hole saw cut out. I got lucky and happened to place it perfectly to not have to grind any more of the metal above for the 4-pin half of the plugs. Then I just shoved it in there. I have heard from others that it is very loose only being clipped into the plastic but mine seems to be quite firmly in place with just the clip that secured it to the factory bracket and I would really have to yank on the plug to pull it out without disengaging the clip.

Ayy I'm working on the trailer plugs this weekend the previous owner for some reason decided to splice the wires?! It may need a new harness there seems to be corrosion running up the wire.

Ordered New tires (35x12.5x17) and wheels (17x8.5 - 0 offset). They should be here next week. Will post a photo when they get installed. I looked and looked for a black wheel I liked but at the end of the day something kept telling me black wheels are getting tired so I went with my gut and purchased a machined looking wheel. Fingers crossed it will have that old school look which is what I am after.

Which part number did you use for the 7 pin / 4 pin component? Or was that your original one and you had only bent the previous bracket?

I've been meaning to do something like this for a while. Only got as far as removing my busted bracket... :(

That is the original plug that was on my truck. I bent the bracket that it sat in under the bumper on a rock or something while playing around offroad. That was a few months ago and I just got around to moving it up into the bumper.

    Some.
Living up in the mountains, I deal with mice in my engine bay every now and then. I was using cayenne pepper on the ground around the tires with pretty good success. However, Saturday I found one had started to build a nest on top of my cabin filter. So, if I can't deter them from entering from the ground, I'll make it too unpleasant for them to enter.
I took a dried out tree air freshener and soaked some peppermint oil into it. Then, I put it on top of the filter. To say the smell is strong would be an understatement. When I first open the doors I start the truck and turn the fan on to push the buildup of smell out.
When driving with the fan on, it isn't too bad, but still is strong. Just crack the windows and I'm happy, it smells (and I can taste it in the air) like a brand new just opened pack of gum.
I'll give it a couple days to see if it works. Then, I'll refresh the oil in the air freshener when I notice it getting weak. I keep forgetting to grab a piece of mesh screen to put over the hole.

Steady and constant performer. Only routine maintenance and service. No real issues except failure of the clear coat. It convinced me to get the 2020. I have had my best success with Toyota - far better than any other brand (the others include GMC, Ford, Jeep).

Little update, The wheels came in today and I just can’t do it! I like the finish but the face profile is convex! WTF! Flat or Concave is a minimum expectation for a good looking wheel. Really disappointed but Discount Tire is amazing so they are sending them back. I’m going with a different wheel instead.

Anyone with steering rack experience? Can inner seals or something inside the rack cause a creaking noise? Can't find anything on this in any of the forums. Audible groaning when turning, under load (no noise when on jacks), especially when it's dry out (goes away with rain). I've almost pinpointed it to the rack, you can feel it, physically hand on the rack under the truck. Can't find anything else. New bushings everywhere, everything is greased. Been chasing this for a year now.

Ha ha, At first I thought it was a shed in the yard behind your truck and that you parked perfectly in front of it and then I realized it’s not. It’s an actual cap! Your not using it to Kidnap are you?

Nope. Tie rods and boots are all fine. If you put your hand on the steering rack, you can feel it internally.

If it stops when it’s raining then it has to be something that is exposed and not internal. Get a spray bottle with water and wet things down during your investigation for a process of elimination

I've sprayed everything. Everything external, that's why I'm thinking it's something inside the rack, but I've never dissected one. Boots have all been fine and both tie rods appear fine, grease and all. Just scratching my head. Sounds like something out of a Frankenstein movie, embarrassing as hell

My rack also makes a whining noise when turning, its not crazy loud, but I can hear it if everything is quiet. I hear solid front axles creaking all the time due to the stabilizer shocks for their steering, honestly I'm not even worried about it lol

what size tires you running? I've got 35"
