The three metals used in catalytic converters — rhodium, platinum and palladium — are part of a category known as platinum group metals, or PGMs, which are known for their catalytic properties

Had a 4" branch jam itself into the back side of my front passenger wheel. Twisted the backing plate up pretty good. Had to take the wheel off to straighten it out so I could keep driving.

Tried mounting my Firering cable and CB antenna to the Rhino Rack mount. Unfortunately, the hole is FAR too large. Ended up having to take the fender mount off and mount it on the rack. So, my antenna is canted and off center. I am going to modify the RR bracket by cutting the hole large enough for the Firering to fit inside and I'll cut off the mounting face from the fender mount and tig it to the top of the RR bracket.

For anyone needing to know, the factory U-bolt length dimension is 7" (inside). Toyota calls it 170mm. I suppose it's possible that mine are stretched to the full 7" (177mm).

Inside is 2.5" and diameter is 14mm (9/16" for aftermarket replacement)

I am using them for solar panel, CB, VHF, and some lights. For a little added waterproofing, I am putting some self leveling sealant on the top to ensure everything is sealed up. I also put a bit on the heads of the bolts that mount the rings to the roof so water can't creep by.

Edit: all exterior wiring is heavy jacketed UV resistant wire.

Vland for the new lights? Curious how they'll hold up over time. I'm not a big fan of the headlights that don't have replaceable bulbs...but they do look sharp, and they're in the mix of what I'm considering.

I just had all four of the cats on my 2011 cut out and stolen in a well-lit hotel parking lot in Denton, TX two weeks ago. Thank goodness for comprehensive insurance coverage as it was a little over $5400 parts, labor and tax to replace them. I'm gun-shy now since I have to park outside at night in East Texas, so Valhallas Shields plates are on the way.

Same thoughts here... But a lot of people live in areas where they have emissions testing, unfortunately. I'm not saying I drilled out my cat on my old CRX... But I'm not saying I didn't ‍♂️

Meso custom map lights. Says 2.5 gen but they 100% fit.

super easy instal, lights look good but a diffuser lens over the leds wouldn’t be a bad idea. They are really bright.
I had regular led bulbs and they kept going wonky and flickering and the silver reflector sucked to mess with. I hope these hold up.
    Light 10/10
Fit 9/10 - still the best option I’ve seen.
Looks 7/10 my preference to have a cover lens. YMMV.

All in all - I like

    Working on it
I wonder what they actually get for the cats, would it be to owners advantage to take off ourselves and replace with straight pipes in areas with no emission testing , and sell them ourselves and just make a little plate for underneath that says - Sorry I've already sold them myself. Then no more plates to buy or worries .

This made me wonder what they're getting for kidneys these days, a person only requires one. A person could put that money toward an electric vehicle that doesn't have cats at all. Problem solved! ;)

Patience! I was in the middle of responding to your post: my dad was actually born with only one kidney, so this is a very true statement. I bet more than what the cat metals go for...but this one seems a little more...invasive?

Are you saying that Toyota is going to stop producing parts for the 07-21 Tundras simply because they have a newly designed Tundra? Did that happen with the 00-06 Tundra in 2007? Afterall, the 00-06 Tundra share almost zero common parts with the 07-21 Tundras but you can still get parts for first gen Tundras at the dealerships.

Just ordered Rock Warrior grill painted Super White to match truck. might eventually swap out inner grill for something different but wanted to get rid of all that chrome.

Also ordered white door handles. I already have white mirror caps ready to put on.

last thing should be the rear bumper. Anyone know of a good deal on a white bumper or off road bumper with holes for parking sensors?

well when you go to sell your own self-stolen cats make sure you are acting very jittery and looking around paranoid, apparently that’s how you can tell they are the real deal

This motivated me to buy mine as well. I thought I had already missed the bus when Sparks had them out of stock. One parts website already says discontinued. Can't remember which....

Toyota will still make (source) service parts for our trucks. They will stop making TRD accessories, no doubt.

The sway bar will be donezo soon enough.

Installed a 4.5” Rough Country lift and put on my new rims and tires over this past weekend. I live in the rust belt so the job took way longer than expected. The ABS sensor in both the driver and passenger knuckles decided they wanted to live in the OEM knuckles forever so that was a nice added bonus. Has anyone used a speedometer recalibrate before?

you could wrap it if you didn't want to get a new rear bumper, our OEM ones are pretty smooth so I imagine (with my 0 experience in wrapping) that it shouldn't be crazy hard?

Been a while since last posting. I was having a hard time trying to decide on hood mount brackets and came across someone on Facebook selling Pelfreybuilt brackets. Did a little bit of research and for the most part people were happy with their products. Unfortunately things turned out bad for them so these are their remains. Gotta say I love the mounts. The logo is great it adds on to the mountain theme I’m going with.

Also thankfully someone on the forum was kind enough to give me their old splash guard will be painting that and adding a latch for easy engine oil changes. And finally changed my sparks plugs first time doing it myself pretty simple straight forward with all the great info on here. Returned to school to work on an electrical certificate so it’s going to slow down the progress but it’s moving!

Started my strobe install. 2 grill mounted strobes with custom strobe switch from air-on-board (https://www.aironboard.com/online/products/switches/toyota-push-switches.html). I ended up not using the illumination feature of the switch because the color match was so far off. Switch still lights up when active to show strobes are on. Brainstorming best location for rear strobes now, might try to squeeze them in between tailgate and bumper. Also planning on adding one on each side beneath doors on pinch weld.

Video of switch color match for those interested https://photos.app.goo.gl/SFspQYAQQ9PMWkXTA

(I work in highway construction, these are required for the job before anyone gets on my case)
