Okay - so what does the mushroom button do? :D

Seat heaters are next on my list when it gets a slightly bit warmer (I know, seems silly to put them in once it's warming up...but it's projected to be -6 today and I have no heated workspace!). Where did you wire them up to? I think I have it in my head that it's going to be part of a larger project when I have time, so I'm trying to prep for it (remove all the seats and carpet, run the wiring for the new sound system and seat heaters, put in sound deadening on floor and doors/back wall, finish up installing seat covers in the front).

I'll snag a pic next time I'm out there, but I replaced the center 12v plug with a dual USB plug and voltage meter a while back. Was a simple enough plug and play but also had to widen the hole. I have a dual-USB outlet ready to go for the outlet in the back of the center console, but I'll probably do that when it warms up as well!

A tap-a-fuse from the driver's side kick-panel (windshield spray fuse) triggers a 30a relay so the seats turn on and off with the ignition. The relay is connected to the battery through the firewall. Sorry I didn't take pictures but this shows the current at my secondary fuse box under the hood.

Also I don't know wtf I'm doing so this might all be wrong.

Ha...if they get hot I'd assume you did it (mostly) right!

    I think I've got a plan...mine seem to have a built-in relay...more to come, hopefully soon! :D

Off road warehouse just finished the BMC install using restless fabs BMC plates which are more aggressive than ORWs. Pretty happy with the results.

Next install is the bushwacher fender flares. I'm happy I went with 35s. Didn't even have to take off the front bumper.

Sprayed the window switch bezels. Used Krylon Fusion matte black. Did 3 coats then wet sanded 500-1000 grit. Did 3 more coats then wet sanded 3000 grit followed by a buff. All and all came out shinier then I would have liked for matte but I’m happy with it. Next will be the speedo cluster and shifter bezels if these hold up well.

How did they look without the wet sanding? Did they still have some of that texture feel/look?

They were definitely more matte finish before sanding. As far as the texture goes I couldn’t get anything consistent enough to look like the rest of the door panel. I did see that SEM makes some sort of “texture” in a spray can. At the end of the day the most important thing to me is that it lasts without wear or chipping.

Waaa??? They make other color door handles besides black?!?! Toyota and the hodgepodgery of fit and finishes has always confused me. I was lucky and mine are black from the factory.

Agreed! Will be watching to see how they hold up.

Hmm… now do I get the black covers or the white ones to match the outside. :monocle:

Part 2 of this will be black AC controls and 4x4 switch. Relocate the Tow/haul to the right knee dash. I’m gonna go with the big compartment in that piece. Then paint the 2 grey dash pieces black to match. Black bottom half / grey above window line inside. This will hopefully please my OCD

    looks great thx for posting.
    I gotta paint those next.

i did the instrument cluster in the same paint I did other interior pieces (flat black textured) but I wanted some sort of distinction for the bezel rings so I painted those only in a semi-glass.

i tried gloss but it was too much so I redid in semi and it’s enough to notice while installed but not over powering

They can be over $600 new but flEbay has a few affordable options.

An alternative to OEM is AJT Designs knobs. They have all sorts of color patterns if it's your style:

if you detach the backside of the tailgate to view the back side of the tailgate latch, you might be able to take a hammer and smash that back out and flatten it, then make some bondo or seal skin and sand it smooth

Have any pics of that installed? Looks pretty sharp.

I wonder if a bedliner or something similar would get a similar texture to the other pieces in the cab... :monocle:
