Got tired of waiting on my CoachBuilder bumper shim kit and installed it anyways. I’m happy with how it turned out! Still going to install the half inch spacers whenever they finally get here

Oil change and tire rotation. Installed the fujimoto drain valve and metal oil filter housing, should've done that a long time ago... Can't wait to reap the benefits of those on the next oil change.

Chasing down a chirp in my brakes when turning right and/or at 10-25% brake pressure... going to turn the rotors and reassemble brake pads and make sure everything is greased and seated properly. Hopefully it's just the $hitty pads I bought when I needed new rotors.

Well, I was hoping I wouldn't need to re-gear but after 2 days of driving with the 35s, I went down to my off-road shop and ordered some Nitro 5.29s.

I hope this doesn’t come off the wrong way but are you drag racing? I have an 08 cm 4x4 with a 3/1 level lift and 35’s and it’s got plenty pickup to spare. Seriously I almost never have to get into it, and I’m not old and slow driving either. Genuinely curious about this.

Decent little cars for what they are. Had one for a couple of years after totaling the wife’s highlander. Decided on a Honda Pilot a couple of years ago over the newer highlanders .

X2 please elaborate! I put 35s on at the same time and I actually like the throttle response better, not as jumpy and my mpgs have stayed relatively the same surprisingly. I feel like these trucks were meant to be equipped with 35s as opposed to those pathetic 31s. Another thing that might make a difference though is wheel/tire choice and rotational mass..

    example my tires/wheels:
    FN Wheels ~ 23.5lbs ea
Kenda tires ~ 70 lbs ea
    93.5 combined

    @red_5ive setup
    XD wheels ~37.72lbs ea
    Nitro Tires ~74lbs ea
    111.72 combined

Yep, the Hellcats at the track are really starting to annoy!

Joking aside, I have the 4.7L on my '08. It's noticeably sluggish since getting the 35s. I don't have a heavy foot, but man do I feel like gramma coming off the line. From what I know and after talking to the gears guy at my local shop, 4:88s are barely gonna cut it, and even with light towing it won't be up to par. I already had over-gearing on my mind before I went in, and since he also recommended going with 5:29s that's what I went with. He also mentioned it'd be a negligible RPM difference (forgot how he explained it to me) so that got me to bite as well. If I had the 5.7L I doubt I'd have noticed anything.

And pyrite808, I think you're spot on with the weight difference/rotational mass, and I was actually considering exchanging the tires for a narrower width in hopes of lightening things up. But in the end I just decided to re-gear since I kind'a already had it in my head before I first drove it with the 35s that I might want to re-gear anyway having the 4.7L.

Now I get it, I didn't realize you had the 4.7. I have the 12 mpg downhill with a tailwind version.

So, I just found out that my Cam Tower seals need replaced on a 2013 with 55,000 miles. It's been a horror show since December, apparently first misdiagnosed as an engine valve gasket that needed replaced. Then another Toyota specialist missed it, took it to the dealer who had the balls to tell me, they recommend the Cam Shaft Seals should be replaced every 30,000 miles, for $3200 that's BS. I talked to Toyota, they are claiming they have no documentation of this issue and it's out of warranty so they won't cover it. I have a 1998 4 Runner, I haven't put this much money into in 23 years!!!! NOWHERE in the manual, maintenance schedule does it recommend doing this every 30,000 miles, no one can afford that. I am disgusted with Toyota, telling me our comments and reports here don't matter, it's not an official site. This is an official problem and they are refusing to acknowledge it, I was very rude and blatantly honest with them, I will NEVER buy another Toyota, and my ditch my Tundra, I travel alone a lot with my dogs, I need to be assured I am safe. Not only that, when they boogered the expected completion date, I told them I needed to know when this will be done because I have vacation plans, I was told I could take a loaner, there policy says "NO DOGS", I was told I could maybe put a blanket in it to protect from the hair, THEY ARE SUGGESTING I DEFY THERE POLICY, WHICH WILL RESULT IN MORE STRESS WHEN I TAKE IT BACK WITH OBVIOUS DOG HAIR IN IT.

Toyot has gone to shit in my opinion, I'm disgusted.

My next question is this? Does this repeatedly happen or is it a once occurring event to have these Cam Tower Shaft Seals replaced. Please provide some feedback. Thank you !!! This is how loyal customer service is rewarded.

Ha. And it would probably help if I had engine in my profile. Now I just need to figure out how to do that which right now is eluding me lol. I need more coffee.

EDIT: But on another note, I drove it around a bit last night and it's starting to feel more responsive. I had maybe just over 100 miles on the truck with the lift/tires up to that point, and things really feel like they're evening out now and it's accelerating much better. It also wouldn't roll from a stop if I let off on the gas, and it's doing that again now. I'm guessing it was still readjusting to my driving with the larger diameter tires?

I hadn't washed this old truck in a couple of months. It still cleans up pretty well. Still only has 69k miles on it.

Meh, you're talking about a 9 year old truck (way out of any warranty) that drips a little oil. You can hate on Toyota all you want I guess. If the leak is a gusher than just pay for the fix. If it's just a drop and dribble who cares?
