I am in East Texas. I live south of Tyler, but normally go to some land in Cherokee County about 40 minutes from where I live. Lots of hogs, but trying to get a buck this year! The land isn't the BEST deer hunting parcel, but it'll do! The owner lets me go any time I want, so I never complain. :)

What is the degree of difficulty in changing the blower motor for those that have done it? I'm not a fan of laying on a floor board looking up.

Why would you go through all the effort of debadging just to leave those god-awful stickers on? They were the first thing I yanked off.

I haven't got that far yet, kind of up in the air on that one. The stickers almost blend with the paint scheme since they are white and gray but also thinking about having some made that have the ironman 4x4 emblem on them since I have their suspension lift and its no longer trd suspension

Only three hex bolts and a harness disconnect and reconnect...no need to lay upside down...open passenger door and under the glove box...10 min of work and less sweat after!

I am not certain, but the 5th gen 4runner is differnt from the Landcruiser...you may look into the GX460 version and cross reference part numbers with the one being touted...

Towed her from one Toyota dealership to the other across town.

In the last 5 months (March, July, August 31st) the truck has left me stranded. The fuel pump is the issue each time. I was passing through Cortez, Colorado on Sunday night, stopped to fuel and she didn't start back up.. Ran the code, P0230, P1604. Monday morning, before calling for the tow truck to have her sent to Durango, I tried to start her and she fired off flawlessly. I hauled ass back to Oklahoma, not shutting the engine off once. She died when I backed in the my spot. 278,000 miles even!

The fuel pump is warrantied because it was replaced at a Toyota dealership on July 21st. So, I towed her to Jim Norton Toyota in Tulsa bc I was told that they were the better dealership in town, plus they were closer for my insurance. They said that they wouldn't honor the warranty bc the labor wasn't done at their shop and they wanted $1500 to repair my truck. This would've been the third time since March, that I would've spent $1500 to fix her. So I called Fowler Toyota, the dealership that replaced the fuel pump in July. They are honoring the warranty for the labor and the part. So that's where my truck is now.

I do know now that the wiring connecter for the fuel pump is burnt up and that was causing the pump to fail or not get a signal. So Fowler is going to repair that also.

Me too!! I've been contemplating selling her and buying a F250. I love this truck and never thought about selling her until recently bc of gremlins.

On Saturday, I went over Ophir Pass and played around in Silverton and I'm so thankful that she didn't die on the pass or in the middle of nowhere.

I had to pull my drawers out of my ass crack after Ophir when I drove the Tundra up it!

Regarding the warranty, I thought it was illegal(at least in AZ) for a warranty to be voided for work done outside of a dealer? Regardless, the work was done at a dealer so why wouldnt they honor that? May warrant a call to Toyota Corporate to explain what is going on. I had a steering rack replaced after the local dealer boogered it and tried to place the cost on me.

Also, after seeing and driving the new F250 Tremor my buddy has, I'm trying to justify the debt...likely wont though. Would rather have a 99-01 F250/350 w the 7.3L PSD.

Dang they should’ve checked that when they swapped the pump the first time, what about the control module on the side of the frame?

They weren’t denying the warranty on the part, just on the labor since they didn’t do it, which makes perfect sense albeit definitely annoying

    Too many…scratch that…not done yet.
    FWIW...
'Not to give you another gremlin to chase....but I had a similar issue a couple years ago that I thought was the fuel pump. Turned out to be the starter. While a booger to replace, I did it myself and ultimately, it was easier and cheaper than replacing the fuel pump.

    Of the codes you listed;
The P0230 would be the wiring/ electronics with the fuel pump. It could also be something in the ECU. I remember in research finding that there was sometimes resetting of the fuel alcohol/mapping that the dealerships would do when replacing the fuel pump. Because, as the pump wears down and the alcohol % leans, the truck learns and accommodates the need...obviously to a point of limitation. Don't hold me to it, but it was something along those lines. Seems like there was file/ PDF about the steps. I'll look and see if I can find it.
The P1604, would make me lean toward the starter.

I wouldn't take the bed sticker off. It's a 2016 and if he removes it, there will be a ghost sticker. I removed my TSS badge a few months ago and ordered a new one because you could still see where the sticker was.

That’s the only thing keeping me from taking it off also, it’s a pretty big sticker so there’s a lot of area that it’s been covering for the past 10 years. If I were to remove it and there was ghosting then I would probably replace it with black stickers like this to keep it a little more low key. It doesn’t stand out to me that much right now but we will see how carefully I can work around it with the DA polisher without messing it up.
