I would have definitely gone this route, I think it looks MUCH cleaner. Unfortunately, the dealer drilled a hole (brand new truck mind you) where I have it installed. This is what was previously there:

I saved probably 2 grand in labor by being willing to trust my very average wrenching skills.
With the help of YouTube... New pads, rotors, transfer case fluid replacement, a minor fix to the rear passenger window bracket were all very reasonable jobs to take on provided you have basic tools.

S&B intake, Dirty Deeds 8", Airlift airbags with Daystar contact cups, LED's everywhere including Diode Dynamics stealth front LED bar, Baja Design Squadron II's on CBI ditch light brackets, completed Diode Dynamics interior LED's. Full RCI skids with cat guards and sliders, Transfer flow 46 gallon tank. Radflo 2.5 IFP coilovers, Coachbuilder shackles, TRD rear sway bar. 295/70R18 Nitto RG's. Dobinson snorkel, softopper.
Man the 2 door XJ's are getting tough to find these days...

I have no concrete evidence in my truck that it keeps the filter cleaner, but that's the reasoning I use for having it. I cleaned the S&B filter for the first time when I had the snorkel installed which meant it had been installed and uncleaned for 5 years. I do run S&B's pre filter wrap as well, I've cleaned that about once a year, which hasn't changed since installing the snorkel two years ago. For time basis, I bought the truck in July 2018, the S&B was the first thing I installed in August 2018, and the snorkel was installed August of 2023.

Checked all the bolts. Checked upper control arm and the 2 lower bolts (221ftlbs) all where they should be. Lower control arm and tie-rod look good. Cotter pin has no signs of moving. I didn’t have extra so I didn’t really want to take them out. The back and forth clunk noise is the steering column. So the whole thing is moving. The tie rod does have a bit of grease leak. So not sure if this is serious issue I should address, or just keep an eye on it? No noise while driving and turning. Thanks @BR73 and whoever else told me to check the bolts. I can’t find your reply.
