What is the reason for paying that much for wiper blades?

Same reason for getting pricier knives, food, houses, etc. - - you usually get what you pay for. You'll be replacing cheap blades every season. As some others (@RainMan_PNW) mentioned, you might go years without having to replace good ones. I went more than 3 years before replacing OEM (I'm in the DFW area). I like the Icons (also pricey) just fine, but I'll probably go back to OEM when I replace them.

I get ~18mo out of wiper blades no matter the cost so I buy the cheap ones.

I've tried all sorts of brands over the years. RainX, Bosch, you name it. The last set was OEM because for me, they last longer, don't chatter, or leave streaks. Will continue moving forward as they compare in price to the brands I've used.

IMO $20 per blade is reasonable for one that works well and lasts. How much do you pay for a blade or think you should pay?

VLEDS installed... still to light out to get the full effect, but install was simple, and they seem to be working:

Dads helper, I needed her to press the brake pedal but she couldn't reach:

i just prop my cell phone up against something nearby, put it on recording and go step on the brake pedal to test. Then rewatch it. Works when you are by yourself.

+1 for OEM as well. Why not they last a long time. I found the chatter and streaks to be true on wifey's car too (GM Malibu). OEM from now on. Just picked up a new set for her from the GM dealer last month, waiting for the weather to break to slap them on.

Yes, the OE do last a lot longer. I typically get about three years out of an OE set for my Toyotas and Hondas.
I love my Honda because you can still buy just the rubber part and reuse the rest of the blade. They only cost about $9 each. Toyota does not sell just the rubber anymore :(

I did a Headunit swap on my 2016. It now has a 20/21 HU in it. Sourced the HU from eBay and the wire conversion harness from auto harness.com.

I picked up my chrome delete parts from the body shop.

Two fender fillers (they had rock chips)
    Two new oem bumper ends
    Rear bumper end (was scuffed)
Resprayed oem bulge (SSM is not available right now)

I bought the platinum grill already painted from Toyota. I'm also swapping the headlights to oem black.

What did you pay for the head unit and harness? That might be the way to go for my 2015 vs. aftermarket.

the HU was $490 and the harness was like $180.

the key is to make sure you get the same HU style. (JBL or non-JBL) Also, the ones that come with Nav are more expensive. Just make sure it’s an entune 3.0 HU. I had nav in my older 16 HU but I bought the 20/21 one without nav. Thought process was “who needs nav when you have Apple CarPlay?”

How do you verify it’s an Entune 3.0?

On the back of the head unit. 3.0 also has 4 buttons on side and a bigger screen. Look on the forum or Facebook I got one for $250 recently.

While we're on the subject of wiper blades. Why do mine streak no matter what I use? What's the fix for uneven blade pressure? Drives me nuts because it clears on the up sroke then streaks all the way back down.

Only time I’ve seen that is when they are worn. You could try wiping the blades with a paper towel. Might have some debris stuck to them.

Well, I didn't do it today but I added some dents and dings, 4 wheeling ya know..... I also replaced a set of LED headlight bulbs. One burned out so you know.....
Anyway, I also "deleted" some cosmetic parts to facilitate making that a MUCH easier process. I have a very big (and awesome) ARB bumper w/winch. So that made the changing of bulbs a very challenging job. I got it figured out and now it will be as I said MUCH easier to change out again.

Those brake lights are something else! Going to need sunglasses behind you.

I am torn on all this lighting stuff. On one hand, it's a serious safety issue if people can't see you are turning or stopping. I have replaced bulbs for that reason before too. But then, how bright is too bright? Modern headlights are already a pain in the ass and need to be fixed for oncoming traffic like they do in europe where the driverside light dims a bit or whatever. Then, are we adding blinding tailights in now too? I am not even 40 but I stopped driving at night unless I have to. I do have a nasty stigmatism and that makes it all alot worse though, so maybe I'm just handicapped and its a me problem:rofl::anonymous:

Totally a valid concern. What I'll do before the weekend is up is follow my truck with the wife driving to get a feel for that. They are already on, and I would assume they are SAE 'certified' but perhaps @memario1214 can chime in with the technical details there?

So... I have @memario1214 HotTails were uses these Vleds but he was the first with the dedicated plug and play Tundra kit. I work evenings and drive home at midnight/1am. I can see the people in vehicles behind me when stopped, in a vast amount of red light but I have yet to see any shield their eyes or look away.
With the light being red, I don't think it has the same "super bright" effect that white led headlights have. So I think these taillights just increase your safety awareness without having a down side. I 100% recommend the kit and would do it again.

Agreed, I was watching for people's reaction when driving in this morning and didn't see anyone that appeared to be frustrated with the brakes lights. I did go thru a drive thru for my coffee and was aware enough to put the truck in park when stopped.

I may remove the small led's down the road...
