I’m beyond pissed, but I’m glad my wife and 2 boys are safe.

It wasn’t our fault. Wife was driving, another car was merging on the other side of the road and another vehicle pitted that car - causing it to veer into our lane of travel.

    All airbags deployed. It’s totaled.

I hate to see another Tundra go down like this but thank the Lord the family is all good. Reminds me of when my Daughter wrecked my 07, yeah I was upset about losing the truck but I was more thankful that she made it out unhurt and without a scratch. God is good!

Dammit!! But this is why we drive trucks and not a micro machine. Glad everyone is okay. Any plans for a replacement tundra or have something else in mind?

That's not the radiator cap... that is your gas cap? It looks like it is modular based on those "spring" like tabs. Reconnect them and cross the fingers?

Ya fuel cap. Arizona is kinda cool though and will throw me a replacement for like $5 when it fails emissions because of it, I can work with this for now as long as it doesn't throw purge canister codes.

Thank your guys support and kind words! It’s crazy that because of a truck that we all are brought together to this forum.

Insurance has been called, they’re certain it’s a total loss. Appraiser is scheduled to come check the truck.

Right now, I have about $14k owed left on the truck. Checking KBB with some options, it puts me at around $31-$32k. I’m just wondering how much I can squeeze out from the other parties’ insurance because I had 2 rear facing car seats too.

The wife and I are planning on getting another Tundra for sure. And for sure a 2.5 gen since neither of us likes the style of the 3rd gen.

I’m going to look at trucks outside of New England just because of rust and what not. May be willing to travel west to even pick up a keeper and drive it back to CT.

If you guys know of anyone selling a 2.5 gen that’s mint condition, shoot them my way!

Also, does anyone know if insurance deem the vehicle a total loss, what’s the process to keeping the truck? I think I’ve seen people part out their truck after an accident…

Glad everyone seems to be OK

My experience (totaled a 4R) was that I provided receipts for the aftermarket stuff (RCI sliders/full skids, audio, ect) and was able to pull those off the vehicle at the junk yard.

Or, depending on your coverage I believe you can have that value added to your payout.

Just gotta call your IC. You absolutely can "buy" it back.

1st off, the note gets paid. What residual value is left is what the IC calculates.

Guys like me like to rebuild these trucks.

I just got done doing this one. It has 4 bags blown. Changing bags is not a big deal.

I’m guessing you’d need to change the trim pieces too since it popped out or would that be the whole unit itself?

Also, I’m not sure if the frame is bent…

Replaced the windshield washer tube, after a rat gnawed a hole in it where it attaches to the reservoir, then gnawed a hole in the same place after I had cut the gnawed section off and reattached. The rat was dead by this time, and when I cut the gnawed off section again and reattached, I thought I needed to prime the pump, as no fluid was coming out. Well, it actually was coming out, not through the washers but through another hole the rat gnawed, where the tube goes behind the cowl.

$1.76, with tax, at the local stealership, and all is good!

Glad of course your family is ok. Be aware that you don’t have to accept the offer the insurance company makes on your vehicle. If you think they are shortchanging you, don’t cash the check and fight it. I have done this for a vehicle of mine and on behalf of my son and niece and was able to reach an acceptable amount of compensation. Good luck!
