It came with the truck. I haven't washed it in months and this is the first time I noticed it different in the rain only.

I just figured they were all a bit off. I bet mine being army green will be really noticeable.

Oil change, ps fluid, and brake fluid exchange. Retorqued the drive line and inspected the front suspension. Everything is looking great considering the abuse this truck has been through.
Switched it up to 5W30 and will cut my intervals from 10k miles to 5k miles now she is getting a lil older.

Will you have to do cab mount relocation for the 40's? I've thought about it a bit myself.

Cab mount relocation is already done. Definitely needed for the 39's I'm already running.

Would a bad ground cause battery terminal corrosion? Every time I open the hood on this pig the clamps have the crust. I've used the purple spray and did the penny trick, they still get crusty within a couple weeks.

Not sure why, but these trucks are just terrible about corrosion. I just rinse mine off with hot water every chance I get and they stay pretty clean.

I've noticed that as well, and out here in the desert, it's a bit of a head scratcher. I need to pay more attention to this stuff.

I read once that is an indication of gas being released from the battery, maybe the battery is on its way out.
Interesting that you mention bad ground. About 25 years ago I bought a Subaru from a coworker for my kid in high school. It seems to run good but he recently rebuilt the engine and put a rebuilt transmission in it. I replaced the cracked windshield and put new tires on it as it had a mismatched tire on one. AWD do not like mismatched tires. Anyways it had 157K on it and figured it would last a few years. It did have an intermittent starting problem….. I was eyeballing it and noticed the ground was off the starter. I attached it and things were better! Anyways my daughter used it tru college and then some, and returned it when she bought a new car. It lasted another 100K+, where I sold it.
I did clean my battery terminals last year on my 18 tundra, still with original battery. No major corrosion though.

Haven’t been on here lately, moving to TN end of year so been busy.

Had premier west gears do the 5.29’s with rear Eaton e locker yesterday. Finally can use drive/6th gear again, fell in love with the tundra all over again.

Tried to get a OTT tune same day but didn’t get done until late. Might have to wait until I move, no time..

Also replaced the AAA battery as it was slowly dying and 5 years old. Went with Costco sealed interstate and ordered the GM diode to bump the charging voltage.

Could be, I'd be upset, only had this battery since July. The old one did it too so I'm leaning in another direction, I just don't know which direction.

Have you tried a little baking soda and water to clean the terminal?

Absolutely. And the various aerosol battery terminal cleaner chemicals. I worked as a Toyota dealer tech for almost a decade, and I regularly saw Tundra's with corroded terminals. Haven't seen a 100% long term solution, they all seem to just hold it at bay for a little while.

Grease, spray paint, anything creates a barrier between the terminal clamp/post and the oxygen in the air. No air, no corrosion.

Like said above, you can only hold off the corrosion, you will have to do a coating every so often.

So is it just a corrosion issue or are you having a low voltage draining battery? Does your truck get garaged or is it outside every night?

    Ok,
8 years ago I had a truck with battery drainage at a low level. I traced it to a damp ECU board, from a leaky windshield. I found out that Ford had a TSB wrt leaky windshield. I was pissed. It was reacting strangely, with my truck from flashing dash lights to not starting. Other on the Ford forum had instances where the truck would just shut off on the highway… I ended up replacing the windshield and the repair guy said there was evidence of the leaky windshield seal, well I knew that as I saw water dripping in…. I lost confidence in the truck and sold it, bought a Tundra…. I travel in the mountains at times where there is no cell service and no readily available tow service.

from things ive seen and read, once you have the corrocion on the posts, its also developing all along the cable. and it does increase the resistance for the energy transfer. thus reducing the efficiency of electrcal system

Same, I used the grease that came with the NOCO pads when I purchased them. May take out the terminals and give them a clean. My X2power has not had any problems.
