Nope. With the smartcap it’s pretty easy. My cooler is at the perfect height for the side grab!

I did a thing a couple weeks ago.

Then a legend nearby had a custom built sleeping platform for sale that I couldn't say no to, so the build went from zero to 100 pretty quick!

Did you use both shims or just 1? Any rub on your cab mount? Thanks!

Doesn’t that transmission cooler cover a high percentage of the ac condenser and the radiator?

Also, what’s the use for the magnetic in line filter?

My 18 towing doesn’t go above 206 in 104* Texas heat with the factory cooler. Not towing it runs 195*. Not really certain I see the benefit here.

I got the Coachbuilder +1” Shackle Kit in May (it took 3 weeks to receive the part:crazy:) and have been looking to have it installed at a local shop here in VA. I received some really outrageous quotes—Eastern Off Road quoted me $670 for the installation and then said I needed an alignment. It seemed like these shops were assuming that everyone is willing to pay any price. I decided to tackle the job myself, thanks to this forum (@Netmonkey had great pics and videos) and some YouTube videos. Luckily, Harbor Freight had their parking lot sale, so I was able to get their Maddox ball joint service kit for around $45. This led me to buy their Pittsburgh 3-ton jack and Daytona jack stands. The biggest PITA was getting the old bushing out of the spring eyelet, but thanks to this forum and the advice on using a 27mm socket, I was able to bang the sh!t out of it with a hammer and the help of the ball joint press and plenty of lube. I managed to get it out eventually. I also had to remove both shocks and the TRD sway bar to get the rear end to drop for fitment. I lubricated the new bushing and used a rubber mallet to get it into the spring leaf eyelet, which wasn’t easy. I ended up using a C-clamp to press it in all the way. I used the jack to lift and adjust everything so the bolt holes would line up, and then got it installed and torqued to 70 ft-lbs. All in all, it was a pain for someone who had never done anything like this before, but saving the money and the job satisfaction made it worth the effort
    PXL_20240817_122839436.jpg PXL_20240817_122848938.jpg PXL_20240817_122925371.jpg PXL_20240817_122939751.jpg PXL_20240817_122944369.jpg PXL_20240817_122954382.jpg

Side Note: Did not realize the the bushing were part of the kit and orders a bushing kit, cant say that i was happy with the CB support but the quality of the shackles is superior to anything on the market. When tried to install the new CB Shackles noticed that one washer was missing so had to reuse the older washer.

Saved a pretty penny doing it yourself and learning!

I think Dave also sold Energy Suspension bushings as well, but separately.

I have done extensive reading on this forum “everything trans cooler related” to nausea along with other internet searches and documentation from Transmission Experts to fully understand and grasp the effects of "Heat" on a transmission and its fluid and the benefit of external coolers to keep the transmission and fluid at the optimum temperatures for longevity purposes.

there is another member on this forum that utilized the same cooler in the same configuration and reported NO impact on AC or engine cooling over an extended period of time with a significant heat /temperature reduction

I performed a complete fluid transfer /replacement in conjunction. The in line magnefine filter is for added peace of mind as the trans filter is not really a “filter but more like a “strainer”. https://magnefinefilters.com/

    o
n my Tacoma I did a “in series” cooler setup similar to this and was pleased during towing and Offroad at altitude 12k ft + passes in Colorado so thought I would apply the same logic with the tundra.

I know this topic garners the same discussions as does oil type, tire inflation, and numerous others.

Since I live in New Mexico and triple digit heat is a reality in the summer and towing trailers in the mountains in NM, AZ, and CO plus low speed 4wd adventures I felt it best to do due diligence

I like to keep my transmission fluid in the 170’s constant “best I can” while towing and slow 4wd adventures at altitude, anything I can do to shed residual heat I am willing to try.

The Magnefine Filter System by MAGNEFINE

The MAGNEFINE filter extends the filtration spectrum to provide dual filtration that is designed to be completely effective in removing damaging ferrous metal particles from automatic transmissions and power steering systems. When the fluid passes within the effective range (5mm) of the powerful magnet, the MAGNEFINE filter quickly attracts all the hard damaging ferrous particles, even down to an incredible sub-micron level stopping the "chain reaction of wear".

(University test show removal of harmful ferrous metal particles to 99.9974%)

The secondary filtration media, removes remaining non-ferrous materials (i.e. copper, aluminum, dirt, clutch material)

The worldwide patented MAGNEFINE dual filtration filter is the only effective form of filtration that can provide dynamic small particle extraction while maintaining full line flow capabilities
for automatic transmissions and power steering systems.

    • EXTENDS TRANSMISSION SERVICE CYCLE
continual cleaning of the transmission fluid actually produces cleaner fluid than the
new fluid you put into the system. Major OEM's recommend adding 10,000 miles to
your service cycle with the use of the Magnefine filter.

    • EXTENDS COMPONENT LIFE
filtering out ferrous particles 3 microns and up will enhance component life by 7 times,
      according to Sayles and Macpherson.
    • DESIGNED FOR EASY INSTALLATION
easily installed on both hose and steel lines.
    • SIMPLIFIES TRANSMISSION SERVICING
No more dropping the pan to service the pan filter at your normal cycle. Pan filter
servicing is recommended at 100,000 miles. Servicing may be accomplished by
evacuation at the inline filter points or by draining. STOPS "CHAIN REACTION OF
WEAR" Removing the ferrous particles in the 3 to 15 micron range with the powerful
magnet, stops the wear and break down of the stabilizers.

Installed the Rigid Ignite kit this morning. Took me about 3 hours as I took my time getting the layout dialed in, and probably a third of that was hunting for my center punch.

Awesome job !! Had same +1 installed (same time with new shocks and worth it to me to avoid BFH and bloody knuckles) on previous 2016 and the bed bounce was eliminated. That and new Billy 4600's in front and some old man emu's on the rear ...soaked up bad roads like a champ. Did you notice an immediate improvement as well ?

Just when the truck is in reverse. RainmanPNW's build thread has the details on the OEM-compatible connectors if you want to make a harness and what the pinout is.

Thanks! Maybe its just me, but i did not notice an drastic improvement on my set up, having the 5100 in the rear and 6112 in the front. Maybe your set up with the Old man Emu's are the biggest reason for the feels, I've heard really good things about that set up.
