I had 2 liters of 0-20 left so used that and did the rest 5-30 at my last change. Engine knock went away in about 5 mins. Sticking to full 5-30 moving forward.

    BTW

MTKEY - I was talking w/ my service guy and he mentioned that as far as added used auto insurance, carmax has a good policy and rarely denies coverage on quality replacement parts.

i paid for the premium 150,ooo mile because the truck had 77K miles. So I only get 73,ooo coverage

oh well, it's way better than nothing

I bought my Tundra at 102k miles and wasn't sure of the drain-and-fill history of the trans so I had a full flush and refill at the dealership.
Fluid + labor was about $300.

I wouldn't buy crap from them. They care more about sales quantity, not quality of what they are selling.

Apparently have been posting “what I have done today” posts to the 2nd Gen tundra thread, didn’t know our tundras are “2.5 gens”, apologies this is my first truck! Anywho, today I got a bunch of parts installed!

I had Bilsteins 6112 and 5160 + x1 shim on passenger side and x2 on driver said for a total of 3’, Freedom Off-Road UCA, Coachbuilder 2” (1.25” actual) Rear Shackles, Talon's GarageSkids, Method MR314, Falken AT4w installed.

Lookin good! Silver Sky Metallic is one of the few colors that I feel like handles chrome pretty well, so if it doesn't bother you, save your money and rock it the way it is.

Yeah, where's the fun in that? The best I ever got in my 2012 Crew Max was 19 from here to Klamath Falls using cruise control the whole way, and sticking right around the posted limit. On the return trip, I had a scout in the form of a late model Camaro I could hear over my stereo cranked to 11, and the DDI 8" standard
A shame I can't give that more than a simple like. One of my favorite things Clarkson has ever done. Taking that truck across the English channel was epic. Plus, the Hilux they tried to kill and couldn't.

Top Gear is a standard that will likely never again be met. Though Roadkill is pretty entertaining as well.

I like the chrome on my super white as well...but I guess the chrome doesn't bother me on any tundra so I'm not that guy.

Truth be told, I agree with you, but I will say the sales process was seamless compared to the last car I bought at a dealer. And I liked that this truck was a one-owner from Texas with 53k miles. No rust, history of regular oil changes, it seems the bases were kept up with. The cabin air filter? Not so much... changed that out today.

Also took it to a decently reputable shop this evening ("Christian Brothers Automotive"). The local branch has good reviews and is part of Carmax's third-party certified shops, so I'll have them do a detailed inspection tomorrow. Hoping to get data-based maintenance recommendations for a few small issues and have Carmax foot the bill.
